Now can someone remind me how to post a picture...?
.
after this weekend i'm off to the usa for 3 weeks (central florida).. i'm already thinking how much i'll miss reading your posts.
anyway, i'll keep reading until tuesday, then i'll see you all in november.. i've been to florida before & i'll do the roller coasters etc in the main theme parks - anywhere else you think i should visit?

so, at age 12, my folks move from los angeles to portland, oregon (they'd moved from new york to la when i was 1).. now, for most pubescent jw males, such a move would have engendered considerable angst about the meeting of new "worldly" people, how i'd "fit in" with the new congregation.
naw.
i was already so deeply involved with my devotion to whatever the wts had to say...man, i literally ran out to the mailbox and grabbed the latest watchtower, to immediately glean every last and latest kernel of truth from the brown-paper-wrapped issue of the magazines.
Thinking of cancelling my holiday so as not to miss the next installments...
When I get back I'll put the whoole story into one document and seek your permission to show it bit by bit to a JW friend of mine.
I hadn't heard, so sad, a great talent.
i was going to post a personal note under the subject, "my daughter is reading jwd" but i decided to just say, "thanks" instead.
it can be confusing for a teen-aged child when one parent is a jw and the other is not, even in a house like mine, where both parents recognize that it would be grossly unfair to "pull" in both directions at once, forcing her to please one parent at the expense of the other.
jwd, with its huge cross-section of people and experience has been and continues to be valuable in helping her to make up her own mind.
A very Warm Welcome
what impression do you think you make here at jwd?
what do people think of you?
My posts are usually too long, too preachy, dry and lack humour. I also tend to get into historical, biblical or doctrinal issues, a real turn off for many, so I no doubt have a reputation for making folks yawn.
In real life I'm quite the opposite, but I came to this board with a serious problem, so I'm on something of a mission!. When its resolved I'll lighten up & you'll see the real Jaffacake...Yippeee

an old gypsy lady just came to my door and asked if she could tell my fortune, as i'm still freaked out by stuff like that i made the excuse of not being able to afford it, she told me as i have such a great future ahead of me she will tell me for free, and then proceeded to tell me something about my family which given the age of my mum could be believed and then told me something really good (however, shes told me not to tell anyone else as this will break my luck).. if it was you, would you believe her?
I forgot to mention, I taught myself a method of fortune telling, to debunk it. I have astounded one or two acquaintances. Its so easy, especially if people want to believe what you say. If they want to believe even 5% you are home and dry as a scam fortune teller.
I must admit, some are very good at the scam and some who are very sensitive to people's body language etc, and realy believe in what they are doing. Just like witnesses, if they believe it themselves, they are more likely to convince others. Wheras I just practiced for a day and pinched a couple of techniques I sussed out from TV guys.
