Hi Happyone!
Whom are they telling? Other JWs, or just anyone? Were or are you a JW? Believe me, if they are telling just anyone, and you are not a JW, chances are they will be looked upon as busybody crackpots.
neighbors of mine have been spreading some unkind untruths about me and i'm not sure what i can do about it.
i'm struggling and would love some words of insight from others.
there are days when i'd like to sink to their level and tell some lies of my own, but i know that's not the way to go.

i heard once a comment or quote that said something to the affect,.
"do learn from negative people, is to lower yourself to their thinking and to learn from their vast years of mediocrity".
with that said, i think it pays sometimes to reflect on who we listen too in our life, and more important, who we strive to please and be life.
I just want to say cool post. Thanks for making me stop and reflect on what I have gained, and will gain.
has anyone ever upon being df'd or da forbade the jws from speaking to them?
sort of as a preemptive strike.
explaining that if they so try you will seek an injunction!.
Here Witnesses are hit and run shunners. They'll whip a snub on ya one week and the next week they'll call ya and ask for a favor just like old times.
The Witnesses didn't ask me personally to borrow my tractor, they asked my son to ask me and relay the answer back to them. That worked for them once. :-)
Gary, for a fact, NE drubs opperate the same way as they do in SD. I'll bet anyone a hotdish that MN drubs operate the same way, only I don't have the stomach to collect the data myself.
These are actually defective people. I treat them like they are all mentally ill.
Excellent practical, common-sense advice. Personally, I wish I'd made your virtual acquaintance years ago. Keep on telling it like it is!
.....and i'm barely 28 y/o!
lol my 17 y/o stepdaughter delivered a healthy baby girl almost three weeks ago!
it is really weird seeing and holding that baby and being called "grandma".
Congrats, OA22! Take heart that you will be the best looking grammie at the child's school grandparent's day.
today while unloading my groceries, i witnessed a random act of kindness... someone in a ford explorer was waiting for a car to leave a parking spot so they could pull in there, they had been waiting for several minutes when finally the car in that spot backed out and left.
before the person in the ford explorer could pull into the spot, a lady in a ford taurus pulled on into that parking space.
the person in the ford explorer who had been patiently waiting, just sat there, they didn't honk or flip the person off, then the lady in the ford taurus realized that the other vehicle had been waiting for that spot and backed out to find another spot, letting the guy who had been waiting have his spot.
Unknown to me, my five year old picked my last rose from the garden, and took it with her in the car to Target. As we were walking through the parking lot, she said to the first person she saw, 'hi, here is a flower for you.' It was a woman who looked like she was having a rough day, but she was so suprised, and asked me if she could keep it, to which of course I said certainly. I told her my girl was having a "happy day", and to enjoy the rose. The lady hopefully went on to have a better day. Sometimes, I just can't get upset with my little girlies, they can always manage to put a smile on my face.
"good sense stress", was the description of an elder for a circuit overseer's undue emphasis on the words "the children are helping mommy and daddy to...pioneer.... yes".
he said this during a talk of his in the early 1990's.
upon going to a pioneer meeting on that saturday and seeing him first hand using his hands in a circular motion around a pioneers face who was sitting too close in front of him, he stated "did you ever notice that little glow they have?
Ahh, yes, the yes set. I have always laughed inside when the entire arena full of convention delegates looked like a sea of bobbleheads.
Well, I gotta go. I am eating left-overs tonight, so someone pray for me that I do not get uncontrollable heaves and puke all over the place.
KennyC, you'll be fine as long as you're leftovers are'nt from Jehogie's table.
(I can't turn off the highlighter!)

Whatever you call these techniques, they have been used by many public speakers, such as preachers, and politicians.
I wonder how many if any of the brothers have been trained in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), a form of hypnotisim. http://perso.orange.fr/eldon.braun/awareness/bwash.htm explains how preachers use their voice patterns and words to sway a congregation.
Jdubs have their own language
Isn't it Pure...Language?
.
when you went out door to door, or just talking with non jw friends or family, what false beliefs did some have of the jw's?.
In the early 70's, my parents told me that they believe only 144,000 can go to heaven, and they were ALL scrambling for that ticket.
this is a 4-part series of video of kevin smith (director of dogma, chasing amy, jay and silent bob, etc) talking about his experience filming a documentary for prince.
this is a must-see, even if you don't care for celebrity gossip.
it's absolutely hilarious.
It sounds like Smith has enough material for Dogma II should he decide to make one.
