My Story..... Need advice on reinstatement Letter.
by jrjr4189 ini've been a member of the site for a month, but have been reading the posts for a lot longer, however this is my first post.
i was raised a j-dub by my mother (my father wasn't religious) with my sister and brother.
i was pretty much convinced by my dub friends, bible study conductor, and mother that i should get baptized when i was 15 and decided to go for it.

Where abouts on the lake are you going?
At Warsaw MO there is a dam that separates Truman Resevoir from Lake of the Ozarks that offers tours, kinda cool to see, and the tail waters from the dam spill into Ozark are full of catfish and bullheads. You can pull 'em out as fast as you can bait your hook and cast.
We always had a good time there.

Religious advocates are persistent and harassing
HARRIETTE COLE
Dear Harriette: Nearly every morning when I leave my apartment building, two or three people are standing at the corner, handing out religious literature and trying to stop me and others to talk. I think they're Jehovah's Witnesses.Don't get me wrong. I don't have anything against them. I don't even know anything about their religion. I do know I don't want to be harassed in the morning, heading out to work. Should I just ignore them? I feel bad doing that because I'm accustomed to saying something when I pass people. (I grew up in the South.) But they are persistent. Help!
— Sandra, New York
Sandra: Continue to resist the temptation to judge people based on their religion. Rather than deciding to act as if they are not there, which makes you feel bad because you were appropriately brought up to believe it is polite to acknowledge others, be gracious and welcoming and distant.
Make friendly eye contact and keep moving. Occasionally, say "Good morning." If the people are always the same individuals day after day, chances are they will appreciate the greeting and not persist. It's likely, however, that the individuals change, which is why you sometimes have people eagerly reaching out anew.
Set your focus before you leave home. Walk with intention and clarity. Be friendly and reserved. If someone tries to stop you to talk (any of these people, or others during your day), kindly say you are not interested and keep moving. I have used this approach recently with eager young people who are seeking signatures for petitions or other solicitations. They've tried to get me to stop for a moment, but I have not slowed my step. I remained friendly and focused. It works, without causing any ill will.
Dear Readers: If anyone would like to share the fundamental beliefs and activities of Jehovah's Witnesses, your comments are welcome.
Send questions to askharriette @harriettecole.com or c/o United Feature Syndicate, 200 Madison Ave., New York, NY 10016.

Do you have to be "gullible" in order to be a good JW?
by JH inin french we use the word "naif", which means to believe anything that's said without proof of it being true.
i think that gullible is the english translation.. i was very gullible in my early jw years.
i guess it's not faith that one needs to be a good jw, but gullibility...

Did you know gullible is not in the dictionary?
Actually, it is in Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary, 1976 ed. pg. 511. I've been gulled too many times not to peek.

depression and why JW's don't reconize it
by nogs inwell as you know unless you are an elders son or daughter generally jw's don't lift a finger to help all those ones feeling downtrodden and lonely.
i felt like this from july 1994 to march 2000. i prayed to jehovah constantly for help to ease the loneliness, i begged the elders and even others.
for a long time the only ones who would talk to me where the elderly ones(who i miss now since i left) i cried every night and felt after five years of being at meetings and feeling invisable (even though i was an auxillary pioneer) i decided that my life was worth fighting for.

The bOrg is like a mother with Borderline Personality Disorder. A mother with that illness expects her 'children' to follow her example. Chaos and crazymaking behavior are all pert of the game.
For what it's worth, your friends sound like they are mirroring their 'mother' very well. Study all you can about the personality disordered Society, and the traits of borderline personality. You do not have to remain their victim.

oops, but there are technical difficulties!
This board is not inciting religious hatred and discontent, but is engaged in a charitable and life-saving work. It's function is to warn the public about a publishing empire making millions of dollars by means of slave labor, and masquerading as a religion for the tax free status.
Unless you are one who profit$ by such a manipulative and smarmy system, why be so upset about a little ol' website?
Here is a website you may like better:http://http://www.reexamine.org/index.php/Main_Page
It is a site that is composed of the publishing company's own words, and is a tribute to those who really see the big picture.
Enjoy!

Here is a paragraph from the review of the cd in the Minneapolis Star-Tribune: http://www.startribune.com/919/story/319121.html
We knew what the song "1999" was all about. It's not clear what the significance of "3121" is. (I hear it's the address of his Los Angeles home.) The title song, which opens the disc, is a dense dance jam inviting you to a party: "U can come if U want to/But U can never leave." Sounds like shades of "Hotel California."
I wonder if the Purple One has figgured it out, and is planning a fade?
