  The only possible deception I can think of is the repeated use of "Bethel Family". Although they use this with good intentions some people are bound to think that it REALLY is family. Families are thought of as having obligations to its members. But even families sometimes have to ask members to leave because they can no longer support them. Are discharged members just thrown out into the street?

  I'm sure a smart chap like you could think of more deceptive possibilities than that. Be that as it may that's what you have chosen. From my personal experience the WTS has a pretty fluid interpretation of most things. Family is no exception and the ongoing love, support and fellowship you have as part of your Basic Human Rights Package is in the WTS's totalistic requirement conditional on believeing as they proscribe for you.

  My 'family' have shunned and ignored us. So the Bethel Family as a term will be equally conditional on you being a part of it as they define it.

  From my limited experience of redundancy in the corporate world there is a big downside to laying off the under-performers or those that otherwise don't meet the optimal profile (including in this special case aged 50+ in good health, old and infirm, sick etc)
  
  The downside is that the top performers or those that are attractive to other employers get nervous about the layoffs. They start to think two things:
  
  1 - Might I be next
  
  2 - Perhaps the company is in more serious trouble than I know about
  
  These thoughts can prey on their minds and start them down the road to looking at other opportunities, even leaving with no rational reason to do so.
  
  A redundancy program can lead to losing significant quantities of people that you wanted to keep.

  define Internet and define outage please.
  
  'My' Internet was fine during this 'outage' and people in the affected area reported various performance levels from no service through slowdown to business as usual.
  
  Also I dispute the 'for the first time in modern history' piece - the Internet has only existed in modern history and there have been numerous incidents similar to the Middle East event. Here's a random one form 2003...

  There's a lot you think you know to be true which will soon be taken away from you. There might be nothing to replace it with - its all good - don't worry and take your time, especially when talking about how you feel to current JW's

  Counselling (in the UK)

  i am considering counselling as i feel i am slipping into a black hole with all of this and could really do with talking it all over with an indepenent "real person" without fear of it coming back to bite me if you know what i mean?

  i am still in, considering my options but my head is a mess.

  sometimes i think this place can be bad for me (although really i know it's the kh that's the problem .
