  jehovahs witness refuses to let husband have life-saving blood transfusionby lucy cockcroft last updated: 6:42 am bst 06/06/2008 the wife of a man who is critically ill in hospital has refused to let doctors give him a life-saving blood transfusion because he is a jehovahs witness.john edwards, 57, suffered severe injuries when a motorist suspected of drink-driving knocked him over and medics have warned he could only have days to live if he does not have the transfusion.. but his wife sheila said he has signed a form banning any blood transfusions in the event of an accident or illness, because their religion forbids it.. it is believed she is rejecting repeated pleas from doctors hoping to change her mind.. the couple's sons, jonathan, 36 and tom, 29, do not share their beliefs and it was unclear last night whether they supported their mother's decision.. a family source said: "sheila is adamant that john must not have blood.

  she says giving him a transfusion would be like assaulting him, and he wouldn't want to live knowing he had disobeyed his god.. "she is in a terrible state, constantly in tears at his bedside, but won't give in to requests from anyone.

  Personal Decision,

  hi people,,,what i mean about personal decision is that, if someone wants to believe what they really want, what will the problem be, so why do some people have to question their beliefs and their type of life.

  wouldn't it be better if we try to respect everyones life, no meter how they do it.

  My point is not really about grammar - more about the way we use the written word to communicate.

  You may write differently in a text message compared to a job application or a University thesis etc.

  And posting on a forum is probably somewhere in between technically accurate written language and a transcribed version of spoken language.

  PureAlb - I think you are tending too much towards typing a stream of words as they come out of your brain, which makes it more difficult for us to understand the points you are trying to make.

  Just my 0.02 - please do keep posting - its been an interesting thread....

  Being told what to say in Convention interviews

  has anyone else heard tell of interviewees in convention parts being told what to say?

  the way i've heard it is you're contacted to be interviewed in a convention talk because you've had a great experience in some form or other and they need you to boast about it.

  so, you meet with the brother handling the assignment and you go through your experience with him (boast about it).

  Little bit off topic but here goes
  
  A fader friend of mine was Elder PO, MTS Grad, missionary, convention speaker - you get the idea. Unfortunately he had to handle several pedophile cases in various congs he was in. At the elders meeting with the CO + DO and the Circuit Assembly shortly after the Panorama expose on the BBC, the CO proudly and definitely announced to all the elders that they would be pleased to know there were no pedophile problems in their Circuit.
  
  It was a complete bare-faced lie as that CO had personally been involved in some cases with my friend.
  
  It was one of the things that got my friend out of the WTS.

  i wasnt trying to offend u in no way, anyway i see u have taken the truth in a rong way,,,if u really wanted to leave the truth then u could have just simply walked way. u chose to leave without explanations, anyway im happy for u that u are happy,,,,and hey i do respect all 6 billion people as well its just i dt have to do what they do, otherwise i do respect every person that i worked and i went college, i mean the people that i know in person ok,the world its huge

  it's really difficult for me to strike up "spiritual" conversations with my husband.

  i am far more studious than he is (hence why i'm the one here i guess!!).

  his membership in the borg is purely based upon habit and family appeasement.

  Thanks - feel free to bookmark and keep using it - a good example was the recent thread asking for WTS source material on the date of 2034 as next predicted Armageddon. Using the custom search and just '2034' as the search term I got 11 results with the 1st one being the one I was looking for. Standard Google returns 2380000 results for 2034 - no doubt a more specific search term would help - thats why its called search, not find :-) see http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/12/159433/1.ashx
