hey Duncan - good to hear from you.
There were night guards at Murrayfield as well - pre-convention was cut back in the Jaracz simplification era though.
From what I've heard it was pretty riotous though....
a very enjoyable part of my job these last few years has been entertaining clients with corporate hospitality at the rugby union international matches at twickenham.
i work for a software company, as finance director, and these events such as the six nations, or the annual barbarians tour - provide companies such as mine a valuable opportunity to spend time with customers and prospects and try to interest them in our products, or at least get them to be favourably disposed to the company.
sponsorship of rugby matches like this is actually quite a smart move marketing-wise.

hi everyone, i'm not new here just haven't posted in a while.
for those who remember me i'm graduating from college on wednesday!!!!
i'm very happy but there's still a dark cloud (pardon the dramatic-ness) i am still with my non-jw boyfriend of almost three years and i've let my parents know that we want to get married (next month) and they went and told the elders(they did it kinda behind my back) who now want to meet and talk with me!
Ask your parents to ask the elders why they want to meet with you.
See if you can prolong that ping-pong conversation until after your wedding. The desire for the meeting will cool after the wedding.
If all else fails suggest a few possible meeting times and places that 'work for your schedule' - Monday morning 8am at the college canteen would be a good start...
here is a run down of some special things i noticed at the district convention.. i probably took better notes now than when i used to go as a jw.. however, my notes now are mostly "stupid" things that they say on stage.
saturday.
symposium: directed by god's spirit in our ministry - speaking the word of god with boldness.
where to start with this treasure trove of cult indoctrination?
one thing leapt out:
"This talk informed us that there was an increase of 1106 congregations in the world.
Then mentions that there is less than an average of 3 elders per congregation worldwide."
Why are they creating congregations without the elder pool to back them up? In any organisation you need to be able to scale your model, and for me this just isn't sensible practice.
Or perhaps the congregations that are being created in 'developing' countries (ie where the JW growth is) have lower expectations WRT quality of meetings etc.
.
ok everyone, just some fun here - no i haven't got wind of any change in the pipeline but, if the watchtower bible and tract society were to ditch the name watchtower altogether, what would they call the watchtower magazine instead?
all suggestions warmly welcomed......
Twilight Zone
Chicken Little Times
Doomsday Clockmakers Monthly
Soon!
letter had to do with checks written at the upcomig district conventions (bs sessions) checks are not the be made out to watchtower but are to be made out the congreagtion of jehovah witnesses.
what gives with this anyone want to hazard a guess?
Conscious mind understands who checks should be made out to etc
Sub-conscious minds just hears 'Please make checks'
Its a hypnotic technique to extract cash using embedded suggestions.
Discuss.
there are some little heel nippers on this board who have mocked, scoffed, and twisted my words.
that is to be expected, i suppose.
a new record every day or two!
Never was a thread so innaccurately named.
does anyone have any idea on the outcome of the upton case?
in 2006 i had last heard that she won her lawsuit for compensation but i have no doubt the society appealed that outcome.
has anyone got any idea where it sits?
Think Walmart HQ - the people working there aren't using the products :-) products are for customers....

What a lovely day Jeff - glad you have peace with your brother.
Perhaps we can adopt that tree as the official JWD tree. I'd love to plant one to remember the family and friends I have lost.
