The Hope For Our Dying Home-Earth...An Inconvenient Truth
by justhuman inyesterday it was the day of the global inviroment.
as i walked to the street going to work, the main square of the capitol was filled with small children and their teachers with huge paintings, songs, art work with recycled elements demanding a cleaner plannet.
when the old generation will pass those little ones that will take in charge with all the inviromental education they had they will go for a better world.i'm sure about it, you could see it in their small eyes.

Need suggestions... how do I respond to my elders?
by Robert7 inso our fade is not going so well.
too many people have been asking about us, and therefore giving us attention.
we've had no choice but tell select few friends that we're discouraged, and one that we're having a hard time believing the fds in general.

Don't trust so-called friendly elders that you feel comfortable with.
The goalposts have moved and you are still playing with yesterdays rulebook - these are conditional friends with no loyalty to anyone but the Borg.
Way before we were DF'd but after stopping going to meetings we agreed to meet with one elder, friend of the family for over 30 years and he had performed Sam and I's marriage. He had been removed as an elder for very spurious reasons and recently put back on, so we did feel he would be sympathetic.
Wrong.
He brought another elder, uninvited.
He didn't open or close in prayer.
He didn't use any scriptures.
He did ask us in 10 different ways if we were loyal to the FDS.
After an uncomfortable 20 minutes they left.
Be very careful and be prepared for the loyalty test. -

IMHO Western Europe is post-Christian, whereas the USA populace seems to be in thrall to the Sky Daddy.

John Doe - there is a negative correlation between education/intelligence and religious belief.
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/12/149010/1.ashx
"Of 43 studies carried out since 1927 on the relationship between religious belief and one's intelligence and/or educational level, all but four found an inverse connection. That is, the higher one's intelligence or education level, the less one is likely to be religious or hold "beliefs" of any kind."

A metric ton of wheat cost around $375 on the commodity exchanges in early 2006. In March 2008, it stood at over $900. Maize has gone from around $250 to $560 in the same period. Rice prices have also soared. The physical inventories of grain relative to demand are also down sharply in recent years.
Several factors are at play in the skyrocketing prices, reflecting both rising global demand and falling supplies of food grains. World incomes have been rising at around 5 percent annually in recent years, and 4 percent in per capita terms, leading to an increased global demand for food and for meat as a share of the diet. China’s economic growth, of course, has been double the world’s average. The rising demand for meat exacerbates the pressures on grain and oil-seed prices since several kilograms of animal feed are required to produce each kilogram of meat.
Feed grains have risen from around 30 percent of total global grain production to around 40 percent today. Land that would otherwise be planted to the main grains is shifting to soya bean and other oil seeds used for animal feed. It is forecast, for example, that U.S. farmers will cut maize plantings by 8 million acres, while raising soya-bean production by about the same amount. The grain supply side has also been disrupted by climate shocks, such as Australia’s massive droughts.
An even bigger blow has been the U.S. decision to subsidize conversion of maize into ethanol to blend with gasoline. This wrong-headed policy, pushed by an aggressive farm lobby, gives a 51-cent tax credit for each gallon of ethanol blended into gasoline. The 2005 Energy Policy Act mandates a minimum of 7.5 billion gallons of domestic renewable-fuel production, which will overwhelmingly be corn-based ethanol, by 2012. Consequently, up to a third of the U.S. mid-Western maize crop this year will be converted to ethanol, causing a cascade of price increases across the food chain. (Worse, use of ethanol instead of gasoline does little to reduce net carbon emissions once the energy-intensive full cycle of ethanol production-- including the energy-intensive fertilizer and transport needs --is taken into account.)

ahhh Churchill...
I always avoid prophesying beforehand, because it is a much better policy to prophesy after the event has already taken place.
The WTS have taken the latter part of his advice to heart, but are somewhat recalcitrant to the former.

The Real Culprit For Rising Oil Prices.???..and theres plenty of oil......
by chrisjoel inthis has been repeated over and over in the news but what the hell no one will do anything about these assholes...so one more time....its the speculators, the investors who ....."institutional investors such as hedge funds and sovereign wealth funds are pouring billions of dollars into not just oil but mamy commodities, distorting markets and driving prices to unprecedented levels.."...and chinese influence???
while that is a factor, it's only part of the story, said mr. masters, a portfolio manager for masters capital management llc.
he cited u. s. government data showing that while annual chinese demand for petroleum increased 920 million barrels over the past five years, demand from speculators has moved up 848 million barrels over the same period.
