A comment I heard tonight
by Generic Man intonight i heard one of the most cruel and twisted comments i've ever heard at the platform.
the topic was the apocalypse and whether or not children will be slaughtered.
through one side of his mouth, the po stated that the bible is not clear on the matter, while out the other side he pointed to all those old testament accounts where children were killed.

No it is called Holy Grail: i.e. is Holy Grail proof of the marriage between Jesus and Mary Magdalene.... Strange programme, not sure what to make of it really. Problem with it is that we do have outside the bible account that confirms Jesus' crucifixion. Hence, this all sounds a bit weird.

If the WTS started off in Australia, do you think they would be different?
by inquirer inor do you think they would be still be demanding and cult like?
do you think they would be a little more laid back in australia?
there would possibly be someone with a similar name, a lot of irish people came to australia as well.

Yeah, of course
literature would be delivered in f*ck truck
Prayers would finish with g'day
An elder would be called smart arse
Goat-like ones would be called nob-suckers
Sheep-like ones would be called dipshit
And everyone would practice tonsil hockey
Though young yobbos would be encouraged to if in doubt use love glove
Between the songs we'd all rush to thunderbox
Everyones happiness would be really unreal
And we'd hope to achieve the state known as diddly-squat -

Why did Jesus make a reference to hell doctrine?
by cyborgVision ini personally do not, never have or ever will believe in hell.
my religions feelings are littlebit hazy at the moment.
but even when i did believe with all my heart i found it difficult to believe in a god that would promote some sort of perpetual concentration camp.

I personally do not, never have or ever will believe in hell. My religions feelings are littlebit hazy at the moment. But even when I did believe with all my heart I found it difficult to believe in a god that would promote some sort of perpetual concentration camp. However, to get back to my point, I find Jesus' words recorded in Luke 16:19-31 intriguing to say the least.
I understand that bible is not really talking about hell as it is understood by most of churches of today's Christendom. On the other hand, Greeks and, as far as I know, some Jewish sects in first century did believe in principle at least in a form of Hades which is comparable to today's hell doctrine.
I also understand that what Jesus was telling was only a fable, an illustration that was meant to make a point and can't be taken literally. Old Jewish religion, after all, did not recognize such doctrine prior to hellenization of Palestine at the time of Alexander the Great.
My point is this, why would Jesus seemingly deliberately make a reference to a pagan doctrine to prove a point? And in process encourage them in thinking that is correct understanding.
I'm not a religious expert, neither I want to engage in spirited argument (quarrel) about whether there's a hell or not (its beyond the point anyway). Rather, hope to get some positive feedback from those of you who had similar thoughts.

did snakes have legs
by tijkmo inquestions from readers.
did the serpent lose legs or feet as means of movement as a result of the divine curse recorded at genesis 3:14?.
at genesis 3:14 we are told: "and jehovah god proceeded to say to the serpent: ?because you have done this thing, you are the cursed one out of all the domestic animals and out of all the wild beasts of the field.

Or haw about this: http://www.smu.edu/newsinfo/releases/99256.html
Your eagerness to discount anything and everything you've read from the bible might prevent you to examine clear scientific evidence.
And on another note, many of old myths are based in facts, our ancestors weren't morons when they observed the world around them. How they interpreted what they saw is another matter but it doesn't mean everything you read from old books is bullsh**
