I love your insights and hope you keep posting. If that's too mushy, well, sorry. If someone seems to have more problems than we do...we're sorry for them...if they have less...we're jealous. Don't know what to do about that.

in memory of the people i personally know that died "in this system of things" that were waiting for the end in their lifetime.
these people were all a part of the congregations i grew up in.
they were told they would never grow old.. they did.. they were told they would never die.. they did that, too.. these people all died of old age, not some terrible disease.
Candidlynuts: Where do they say "millions now living MAY never die."?
Thanks,
Cate

when i joined the jw's, i remember an elder stating that when you do less than the average number of hours in your month, mark the reason why in the back of the service report sheet that you give at the end of each month.. did anybody else receive these instructions way back in the late 80's?
Yes, back when I was a regular pioneer.

Greendawn: 1880's would have to be even older than I am...and that's old! My grandmother was baptised in the 50's. This makes me wonder a new wonder...what's the oldest "generations" out there. Of course, here we are dealing with people who've said, "just a minute now..."
Cate
I think the message is...those grandparents were crazy people!
I makes me wonder...are most new JWs born into it...or brought into it...

I'm 3rd generation. What are you?

i've been thinking a lot this week about what has gotten my brain into the mess that it is in.
yes, chemistry plays a part, but i think thoughts affect brain chemistry as much as brain chemistry affects thoughts (especially over a long period of time).
i know that one thing for sure is true, i take life and all the bits and pieces of it way too seriously, allowing my emotions to be swung on a much greater arc that i should.. but just think about witness childhoods.
I'm trying to find a way to deal with my issues as well. Depression, anxiety, negative thoughts. How much is a result of being raised the way I was...and how much is biological? Nuture versus nature? All I know for sure is..where there is life, there is hope. Give up and the darkness wins. Hang in there. Your input is important.

lord's people--only jws.
peter 5:5.. christians--only jws.
differences.. a christian--only jws.
Is it just me...or does anyone else think it's odd that they quote themselves as supporting documentation? "As we said in 1920..." Perhaps, therefore, I can make a statement, and to support it I can say, 'in proof thereof, please read my words on the previous two pages.'
Huh!?
