Thank you arthur and all. I have jw family that may come to visit from time to time, so the door signs would not work. I am very familiar with the basic request to take your address off of the territory cards. I am seeking more a formal letter that would make it clear cut that not even the "once a year" visit by the elders/ms's to see if we changed our minds would be tolerated, nor the leaving of literature in the doors.

Did the JW life, cause anxiety?
by JH inoften i heard the elders say, "when a person is physically sick, they should go see a doctor, and in the same way, when you're spiritually sick you should go see the elders".
so, they compare themselves to doctors.... so, for the sake of it, let's say a jw went to see a doctor and complained about anxiety due to jw meetings and their way of life, and being stressed because the watchtower asks too much.. now lets say the doctor would say, the cause of your problems is your religion, stop going and you'll feel better !
so, you go tell the elders that the root of your anxiety is the meetings and field service and all the stress related to the jw religion.

Meetings were bearable because of the social aspect mainly. Field serivce is what stressed me out! Straight door to door was the worst. I recall gettings stomach problems from the stress before almost every door, especially when I knew how they reacted the last time we called on them. Return visits and studies were not so bad.

I don't bump into witnesses anymore...............
by JH ini remember years ago, i couldn't pass a day or two without seeing a witness someplace, either walking or in their cars going door to door or just traveling to the hall.
often i'd see them at the grocery store or at the bank.. but it's been months now since i've seen a witness.
gee it's fun not to run into them anymore.

Ozzie's Weekend Poll #153 What did you look at first?
by ozziepost insorry we're a bit late for the downunder mob, but you in the regions of the northern hemisphere may still be enjoying your weekend.. misspeaches: you could read this when you get to work in the morning, eh?
anyway, as promised in an earlier thread, it'd be amusing to compare notes on this one:.
what part of the magazines did you look at first?.

Other: Young People Ask articles. It was love-hate with YPA, because I wanted info to be a good little jw, but I also did not want to hear that we could not spend time with the opposite sex except in groups and only when dating! I also looked at WTW and QFR to find interesting tidbits. They did carry a very nice article one time in the mid 90's about the story of the mother cat who went back into the burning building to rescue her kittens. I think her name was Scarlett? Did anyone else recall that story? I did like that one very much.
