A possible reason WHY, the 'New System' was never a Reality to us.

perhaps i'm wrong, but this is a possible explanation.i was always taught that a new system would soon replace the old one.

in this new system there would be no more war, everyone would eat from his own 'fig tree', they would build houses and love one another.. .

in every publication that depicted this new system.....it was a picture of a beautiful lush productive earth, people were carrying baskets of vegetables and fruit walking together being of different decent, the men were bulding houses with smiles on their faces, and the children were playing with the animals.

I don't think any JW has really thought about whether any of this stuff is even possible let alone true.

It doesn't make any sense, but look at how many JW's there are that are buying it.

As far as the bird thing goes, I remember that whole story when I was a kid and I was really scared. We lived on a farm and there did seem to be so many crows, magpies and hawks.The hawks would attack you and the magpies would eat our baby rabbits. So you can imagine the images of flesh eating birds after the big A going through my mind.

all i was trying to do was find some mutual respect for my decision but she started smacking, punching, pushing me.

soon after, she threw the biggest tantrum and it disgusted me to see her acting in such a manner.

Sorry D for having to go through that. It must be painful for you!

I admire that you had the guts to tell your mom personally. I did it through a letter because I knew how my mom would react and I just didn't want to see or hear it.

Keep strong though, it may take time for your mom to adjust. She looks at it like it is a death sentence because that is what she has been taught. Hopefully she will come around and see that it will all be ok.

i am hoping there are others of you that have the same feelings as my self and can help me to move on from them!.

currently i am in therapy due to different things that have happened in my life (not just to do with the witnesses!!

) and i thought it would be good to share my last session with you.. as a jw you are given your goal in life- your point.

Hi Becks,

You sound so lost. Maybe you aren't, but it does sound like you have not found a purpose. I work with girls/women that have eating disorders. And most of them sound like you. They just can't find a way to find some real joy and a driven purpose. I don't know if this helps, but it is worth it to keep searching. Growing up JW has caused so many allusions about life and in the REAL world none of those allusions exist. It makes reality more difficult than it needs to be. So it takes time to adjust and find what we need to live in this world peacefully with ourselves.

There are so many people on this board that are supportive of the unique situations many of us came from. I hope you find it helpful and healing

I hate to tell you that their attitude is still the same. My mom continually reminded me of the policy in Israelite times of killing children that don't listen to their parents. She would use that to get me in line all the time. I wasn't even a really bad kid. That was her way of keeping me shaped up. Unfortunately when I DA'd myself I felt that if it wasn't for the laws of the land now, my mom would kill me and be happy about it.

I'm not exaggerating. These kinds of parents are sick!!!! I don't think every JW parent thinks this way, but the parents that believe everything they are told by the FDS would do anything for them even if it went against their own concience or laws of the bible.

(I cringe thinking about my mom and killing children) Believe it or not my mom is actually a nice person, but when it comes to this kind of stuff the horns start to grow!!!!

Does anyone feel that their abilty 2 make money has been influenced by WT?

we were told so many times that we were slaves 2 not only god but anyone in a secular position of authority.

so i feel that this only encouraged a subordinate and non confortational attitude with our employers.

almost 2 the point that that even those of us who are self employed never get 2 develope the killer instinct that is needed 2 compete in the business world.

I found it hard to compete and don't seem to have that competitive drive to succeed to the best of my ability. The worst was when I started to rub off on my husband who is successful. I could have cost us so much.

Dean tells me to dream and believe. And he aint talkin about no paradise of organization!!!!!

at the risk of soundy mushy, i would just like to thank everyone for being a part of this board and making it what it is.

in the 14 years since i have been out of the b'org, i have pretty much had to deal with building myself back up by myself.

in the short time that i have been a part of jwd, i have realized that there was a lot of things that i had just repressed and locked away.

I'm so thankful that so far I have been able to post my feelings here. No one has told me to suck it up, but are just letting me get it out however it comes.

It's good to find so many people that are going through so many of the same things. THANKS everyone

Why remember the bad treatment?

there are people who have had bad experiences and don't look back.

but many people on this forum remember it and post about it almost, if not, everyday.

personally, i've had my share of bad moments.

I probably wouldn't be reliving the pain everyday if it wasn't for the simple fact that every day I can't call my mom or sister or my brothers for anything. Even simple things about raising my girls that would be so nice to share with my mom, I can't.

Knowing that a religion has taken my right to a family away from me, oh I don't know.....makes me want to poke someone in the eye!!!!!

The Watchtower - Making the case for social responsibility

over the last couple of years, much has been said about the charitable status of the watchtower bible & tract society.

it seems to be more and more the case, that the watchtower is a taker and not a giver.. .

they claim to be modelled after the 1st century christian congregation - yet they can't perform even the most basic of charitable works.

My mom always said they are giving something better to society than helping the causes or community. THEY ARE GIVING PEOPLE EVERLASTING LIFE!!!!

I would like JW's to look at some poor child that is so hungry and just wants a cracker and tell him all he needs is to study the bible. The FDS just doesn't see that door to door work just doesn't equate to truly lending a hand to someone in genuine need.
