I realized that I love nature. It makes me feel at peace. I realized that people make themselves and everybody else miserable in their striving for superiority. People should be neighborly and charitable to each other. Never mind all this stuck up BS! I also realize I do not want too many possesions. I can't be bothered with them. Oh, I appreciate nice things. I just can't stand clutter. I also don't care what people think of me. It is very liberating.

WHO IS WORSE TO A JW, A PAEDOPHILE OR AN APOSTATE?
by diamondblue1974 inhearing about the child molester in glasgow who has been charged but not disfellowshipped did cause me to think a little;.
as an apostate you can be shunned without the need for a jc meeting irrespective of the fact that you might be repentent (not if you have any sense though); however the child molester mentioned hasnt been disfellowshipped!!?
?...if this is true doesnt it clearly highlight the wts f**cked up sense of morals?.

In my opinion a so-called apostate is worse to the JWs. In their eyes an apostate has left them whereas even the worst pedophile who is crawling back to them is more desirable in their eyes.
Besides the pedophile who crawls back is going door to door and bringing in more potential JWs.
There is another reason though. I feel that children, especially girls, are of no value in their eyes .

DOES THE BIBLE CONTAIN ANY VALUABLE OR USEFUL FACTS AT ALL???
by Terry infact: a statement or assertion of verified information about something that is the case or has happened
i've read the bible many times in many ways with many methods.
but, i don't really see in it any information that contains factual material that benefits anybody.

Yes. I think it does. Now, just because the JWs burned us does not mean we should discount whatever good things we can sift out of the bible. I'm not going to speak for everybody but I feel that with regard to morality the bible is right. What people are doing today with being promiscuous is a bad thing for everybody. The whole world is not a better place because everybody is jumping on everybody else's bones.

Garage sales
by poppers infrom reading this site i've learned that jws frown up buying used clothing etc.
from second hand stores because of possible 'demonization.
' my neighbors are jw and i notice that they have fairly frequent garage sales.
-

A lot of JWs are afraid of garage sales because of demonized items. The theory is that you do not know what the owner "was into" and that you might have a problem if you brought something into your home. I heard of instances of demonized furniture that had to be gotten rid of. Don't laugh, but I once bought an item in an antique-like store many years back. Something gave me the creeps after a day or so and I concluded that it must be that item! I felt really stupid getting rid of it but I did so just the same.

Do You Know Of Malcontent ExJWs That Bitch About Life Because.....?
by minimus inthey were jws and blame everything on their jw past???
i know of people that never tried to get ahead or prosper themselves because they were witnesses.
never bought a house or a brand new car because they would rather rent and drive around in a jalopy that would break down.

It may not be too late for most people who are relatively young but for those in their upper years, it's damn hard!
Some of the people who post on this board are lucky they got out early enough and were able to salvage some sort of career, make money, friends and get married, etc. etc.
But for those who got smart too late, what can they do? I'm not saying they can't get some happiness out of the rest of their lives but make no mistake it is not the same as doing things when you are supposed to, timewise.

No, you are not wrong. It is just that any fundamentalist religion could have lifted that man out of the gutter. It is just that JWs are more aggressive at it! As far as I am concerned, maybe I would be dead today if it weren't for the JWs. After all, I stopped smoking and doing other things that weren't so good either. But it is the bible teachings that really are against these wrong practices. So, if I come away with anything from the JWs, at least it was the fact that I am not practicing things that are detrimental to myself. As far as my bad experiences with them, I'll have to get over it.

Six Billion Hearts Will Soon Stop Beating. . .
by ACEofCAD inannounced our circuit overseer last night in his talk about the urgency to preach because of the times.
followed by a silence that was broken with ohhhs and ahhhs.
he said that a couple of times throughout his part, simulating a beating heart with his fist.

I seem to remember talks like this but I don't really remember my emotions at the time towards the rest of the world because I was afraid for me. Because, after all, we weren't guaranteed to be saved either!
Talks like this shouldn't surprise us because the JWs quote very much from the old testament (or as they call it the Hebrew Scriptures). The OT is full of such violence and genocide. In fact, the Israelites were given the privilege of killing and/or dispossessing any peoples that God told them to and taking the virgins, and any other spoils, etc. Hence, the callous attitude you see today on the part of JWs.

Maybe to some degree totally unconditional love is not realistic. The closest you come to it is the parent-child bond.
I suppose most friendships between people are somewhat conditional, in that you are not going to rob their house or do something so outrageous that people would recoil in horror! So in that respect there are unspoken conditions in our relationships with people we know.
But the the friendships between JWs are conditional in almost every way. They can hardly be called friendships at all! At best they are conditional acquaintances.

Java:
Everybody remembers the meeting/article that got them thinking that it was all over for them and they could no longer feel the same.
Mine was when a magazine article came out talking about how we should not be prognosticators and I thought "well that is what they have been doing". I realized they were insulting our intelligence and it made me so furious I would have walked out right then and there except I came with somebody so I kept my mouth shut. They must think we all have a short term memory span and the brains of a gnat. I hated them with a deep loathing from then on and that was before I found out all the rest.
As far as visiting GBs were concerned I felt it was a bit creature-worshipy but some of them were good for interesting stories and slide shows.
