So, the right heart condition means you must literally be a masochist because all they do is dish out abuse. Do they expect you to walk with your head down beating your breast? If you are woman, should you wear a burka? They really send me! I also realized they do not respect boundaries. I don't even think they know what this word actually means. All in all, not a recipe for good mental health.

Did You Get All "Giddy" When You Saw A Fellow JW???
by minimus ini used to embarrassingly get a kick out of going to the conventions and seeing jw families proudly displaying their songbooks and literature strategicially placed in their automobiles for all to see.
some even woyld display yhwh in their windows.
meanwhile everyone in the car would watch to see if other witnesses would notice and give them a joyful wave.

The most condescending thing said to you by the (sm)elders.
by diamondblue1974 ini wasnt the most academic of children although i had some capability but i could read quite well by the time i was 4 years old at least for my age; i have always read as a child and still read now as an adult both professionally (research) and for pleasure.
i have always been able to write too...and pretty much advanced as well as my peers did in school...perhaps i am lucky, i certainly feel like i am when illiteracy amongst adults and children is rife at present...however.. i remember when i was 16 the wts in the uk were pushing through a scheme teaching those who were not as able to read and write...and an elder in the hall made a point of coming to me and suggesting that i should actually attend the training!!
!....i explained that i could read and write well enough and didnt need to be taught basic literacy... he said that i might learn something new and should respect jehovahs order of things and show appreciation...i did decline his kind offer rather abruptly....but wtf??

I agree that most things the elders say are designed to put you down. It is really about their hang-ups or biases against you. If you are a woman (or not the kind of woman these particular elders like) they will say things to put you down.
I never wanted a shepherding call because they never made me feel good.

Do You Shine on Your Job?
by prophecor inhave you noticed that some people just have that certain star appeal on the job?
some folks have an almost celebrity status while others prefer to stay quietly in the background.
many just are naturally popular where they work.

I am not a star. I prefer to stay in the background but when you do good work the boss likes you and certain other people can't help but hate you. It is a no-win situation!

I was not raised as a dub but my home was not happy. They didn't instill self-esteem in me - I had to build it up myself. It took several years.
When I made the mistake of becoming a JW as a young adult I had built up a pretty healthy self esteem. Not arrogance, not conceit, but I felt good about myself. But, after a few years and a few rude awakenings, I realized that they are dangerous to your self-esteem. They actually begrudge you your self esteem and your god-given dignity. A person (male or female - but espectially female) with a healthy self esteem ticks them off. I don't know if it is jealousy or what.
Certain people will actually antagonize you. When I realized this I retreated (for my own protection). I carefully selected who I would talk to and associate with, etc. I have been through a lot in my life and I was determined that nobody was going to do a number on my brain.

Dismembered:
I love your expression "polish the rocket" ha, ha. That is why I learned my lesson. There are certain things you shouldn't tell the elders (especially if you are woman).
I find it hard to believe they don't form dirty pictures in their head if you are stupid enough to tell them about your problem with MB or immorality, etc. In some cases, you may give them ideas!!

Do you think that the Governing Body will pick JW women when men die off?
by booker-t ini know this might seem like a big laughable joke, but i was wondering what will happen when all of the gb members die off or get too old to continue as gb members?
will they start to pick jw women who claim to be of the annoited and or old enough to be alive during 1935?
evidently the chosen will get too old to carry on and there will be "new light" to say that young jw can be of the annointed and gb.

Eve:
Years ago I was present when a sister conducted a study with a napkin on her head. Made me sick. When I was a catholic years ago we wore a head covering made of lace. Some were like a Spanish mantilla and others were just a type of lace doily. But every woman wore one. With the JWs they rub it in your face about the subjection thing. They really have a problem with this and I have a problem with their problem.

Years ago I turned myself in for a one-time small infraction. The elder wanted to know if there was immorality involved. I assured him there was not (there wasn't). He looked at me as though he doubted me. I was privately reproved. Still don't know what difference it made to me. I think I couldn't comment out loud for a time. If somebody didn't tell me I was reproved I would never have known!

Were you criticized for being outspoken & lacking tact?
by LongHairGal ini seemed to have a problem with the people there because i am outspoken.
(and this was all before i had any clues to how bad the whole thing was.
) i am just an outspoken person in general and my family (not dubs) are also outspoken.

I also had that said to me too! I was told perhaps I had the gift for singleness! That must mean having a brain and not being willing to swallow everybody's bull!!
I am convinced they are all about "getting over" on everybody. This is all about feeling good at your expense! They are heavy-duty into exploitation. They just don't want you opening up your mouth about it. Besides, I couldn't stay with somebody who didn't appreciate my intelligence.

What happened to Babylon the Great? Why is it still here?
by truthseeker inhave you seen bab-el-on the great?
she was here just a few minutes ago.. seriously, i was thinking back to the days of 1988 - when we first received the copy of the penultimate revelation book.
you know, the one with the red cover and the scary dragon pictures inside.. at that time, jw thinking was heightened to expect the imminent destruction of false religion.

LongHairGal
I hate to say it but when I learned all about the WT I realized that it too is part of Babylon the Great! All religions are wrong more or less in varying degrees depending on who you talk to.
