You are so right about them going to the hospital so they can be seen and then forgetting the person once they are back home. I think the real reason they are at the hospital is to make sure the poor person is sticking to their rule of not taking blood.
That's what it's really all about - adhering to their rules and regulations.

My Mom Requests They Don't Announce Her Name If She Is Sick--- On Platform
by minimus inmy mother's so disillusioned by the elders, circuit overseer and society for removing her as a pioneer for going to my daughter's wedding in which she married an "unbeliever", that she has told the elders not to even announce her name if they find out she's been sick or could use some welcomed calls.
nope!
she just wants them to stay away from her as long as is possible.

Minimus,
I don't mean any offense against your mother. I just forget how it felt and how you were supposed to feel everything was a "privilege". -

All about appearances, another thing I hate about people...
by wanderlustguy ini went to a concert with a friend of mine last night, and spent a lot of the time amused at his and his friends' behavior.
i loved the music, live music does it for me in so many ways, the show had cracker, danko jones, and carbon leaf, all really reallly good bands, in an outdoor park.
anyway, i'm starting to get irritated form the nudging and hey, take a look over there's, and getting asked to go "trollin" for women.

Wanderlustguy:
Yes, I have noticed that about guys. They are very critical and cruel towards women who are not good looking. But what gets me is that in most instances the guys making these types of comments are nothing to look at themselves. Why, they must have a magic mirror! When I have been in a public place and overheard some crude remark about a woman passing by I have checked out the guys making the remarks and they are usually unattractive.
I wonder if it is all revenge for rejection they have suffered. -

Minimus,
I'm glad your mom told them off. This is all about control, really. She went against one of their stupid edicts and so they are getting revenge on her by "demoting" her - which just goes to show you where everybody's head is at - hers as well as theirs! It's all about status and being noticed. Because if she wanted, she could just go out in service and do the hours without having the wonderful name of pioneer. Who the hell needs that name anyway?
This is so stupid you could just laugh. I am sorry she got hurt by them but that's what it's all about. -

We didn't have much money either. I wore hand-me-downs most of my childhood. What I mentioned about them being "equal" is only about them "looking equal" in the sense that one student's expensive clothing would not contrast with another student's more modest clothing. Unfortunately, we live in a sick world of labels. Little kids are also aware of brand names and this is an unwanted burden when one is trying to get an education.
You are lucky you have a very healthy self-esteem. Many children do not and are very insecure for many reasons.
I certainly don't believe that clothing is the mark of a person's character. -

Jehovah's and materialism
by AJNG99 inhey guys!
i have a question about that, what are their views on it?
i always thought they weren't into nice cars and nice homes, and the finer things in life.

I have met several who I thought were very materialistic. More materialistic than many people in the "world". I mentioned this to a sister about a particular brother who was super-materialistic. She said: "that doesn't mean he won't make it", meaning that he was a very faithful person, etc. It is not as though I would begrudge him or anybody else for "making it" it is just that it was so obvious with him. He also had an affinity for seeking out those friends who were wealthy so I do believe he was dazzled by their money.
I have nothing against anybody who has money or who is extravagant. In fact, I don't care if they live like Liberace. More power to them! Wear those diamonds with pride!
What I do hate are dubs who pretend to be poor because they feel they can get more sympathy and attention from everybody. -

Uniforms are an excellent idea. I wore one in high school. Initially they might seem expensive but in the long run they are not. But the real reason they are good is that in a uniform everyone is equal. There are no distractions about who is the rich kid, etc., or at least it will be less obvious.
They are good for another reason. School children in public places who act up and cause a disturbance are more easily identified by their school uniform. So, it acts as a deterrent. -

They wonder why they are losing people???
by LongHairGal ini have to laugh at how hard they try to bring people in by knocking on doors and rv's - but once the people are in they are pushing them out the back door with both hands!
we all remember how hard it was to stay there (even if you believed it all) - let alone the head-trips they put you through!!
listen to this.

I agree with you that these girls are too young for him but he does look very young for his age. He was also told by his family that he has a "limited time" that he will look young. Once he starts to look middle aged he will really be seen as a fossil. Family members have urged him to look "outside" for a woman but he refuses because he thinks he will be displeasing jehovah (rolls eyeballs).
Also, I am sure he has emotional "baggage" as does anybody who is an adult.
The point I am making is what is somebody like him to do? -

This is the story of a young man (early 30s). I feel responsible because I was influential in him joining. He is a nice person but a little eccentric, he works but doesn't make a lot of money. He goes out in service regularly and does the whole deal. The problem: he is looking for a mate and people to hang around with. He lives in a southern state where the girls are all married off at a young age. Anybody that is nearly close to his age is usually divorced with kids and baggage. So he has set his sights on younger girls in late teens. However, he is running afoul of elders and getting criticized because he hangs around with the younger crowd and it looks like he is chasing the girls. He is in the predicament that singles find themselves in because married couples don't want him around because they are afraid he will be "temptation" to the married sister (what nonsense). So he has nobody to hang around with. Now, he is a very sincere (and "whole souled" person) who wants to serve jehovah and he wouldn't think of looking outside for a mate.
So, he is in a dilemma. He tries to do the right thing and is criticized instead of being helped.
Their system just doesn't work even if you play by their rules.
