Maybe they are afraid that in some cases those forgotten cards carried in a wallet may not really reflect what a person’s current beliefs are!

i always hated suit, shirt and tie and wondered why men of all walks of life should be forced to wear these uncomfortable clothes and spend the money on them.
it should be remembered some of the worst people wear them, like creepy joe, putin, dirty corrupt frauds in business, law etc.
and of course al capone.
Just my opinion on men’s clothing: I always thought ties were awful and I can understand why some men hate them.
I like the look of those untucked shirts on men.
I also like the look of the un-suit type of suit. It’s more casual but looks put-together. As for those tight pants: I don’t know how flattering they are - especially if the guy has skinny legs..Maybe just a little looser without being baggy.
i have noticed this on many many forums.
so i don't have this forum in mind for this topic.
so you may have noticed this also, but many times on threads once someone does an attack or a negative comment about someone, or the way they write or anything else on the thread, everyone else seems to just pile on by reaction not thought.

Wow, that response was uncalled for! Can somebody say ‘arrogant’?
There have been posters that have passed through here over the years. Some see themselves as intellectuals who are tolerating everybody else who they perceive as beneath them educationally or mentally.
Usually at some point they move along. I doubt if anybody really misses them.

I have seen these kinds of senseless insults on public forums and always wondered what type of mentality was behind it.
It’s like throwing something at somebody you don’t know who never did anything to you. I’m almost certain it has to be from persons of low intelligence because it makes no sense otherwise!

VANDERHOVEN7:
How about: “The ‘religion’ keeps changing its doctrines.” 🤣.
Even when I was ‘in’ I couldn’t keep up with how the JW religion wanted to be referred to. I vaguely remember when they dropped the term ‘society’ because I heard an older lady mention it. Maybe I was absent but were changes like this supposed to be announced at a meeting? I don’t seem to remember.
I almost got the sense at the time that people were embarrassed to talk about it. I guess changes in branding don’t make people feel confident.
I’m Out so long I suppose I have no interest what this charade calls itself.

HOPELESS1:
Thanks! Did you see the decision made by Norway against the JW religion?
It’s a step in the right direction and hopefully it will alert the world about the religion’s shunning practices among other things they hide from the public! Maybe people here with relatives stuck in the religion might see a little relief in the shunning?? One can always hope.
Thankfully, I have no family there and this religion can ‘shove it’. May the phony facade they present to the unsuspecting public be stripped away. The world deserves to know what really happens inside this religion once somebody is in. 👍🏻
i had an aunt that had rheumatic fever as a child and only had an iq the high 70's.
but, absolutely no one was able to bs her on an emotional level.
she had an uncanny ability to see through people's bs.
I don’t think it matters. I was told when I was small that I had a high IQ. Never got a number though. I also believe it might change (maybe for the worse) over time. 🤣
It is interesting about all the infamous people with high IQs who did very bad things. In the long run, I don’t think it means anything in a person’s life.
organized shunning will stop when money stops.
Everybody:
I was on Reddit reading this and I have to say it’s a step in the right direction. Hooray for Norway!
What I like best is this will highlight all that is bad about the JW religion even to those who might not even be interested. This would get them curious.
I like that it was brought out that what they teach the public is not what’s in their literature (or words to that effect). I always hated this about the religion. They keep hidden what they REALLY are.
I’m so glad I’m Out and never had any family there. Sorry for all the ex-JWs with family stuck in the black hole there who are shunning them! 😔. Maybe this will let up a bit? Who knows?

MEAN MR. MUSTARD:
Good post. I really don’t see HOW anybody can stop people from shunning.
I know there’s a lot of emotion tied up with this. I agree with you that when JWs shun somebody they either do so because they agree with the religion OR they are too cowardly to oppose it because they are worried about how people in the religion will view them! These idiots are paranoid about how they appear. In fact, I would say this is part of the religion: the visuals of how things ‘look’. It’s all about optics.
I really do feel the only way legally the JWs can be forced to change their behavior regarding shunning is IF a minor is being harmed or being cast out of their house, etc. Other than that, if adults are involved and shunning other adults (even if they are relatives) then Nobody can do anything about it!
You cannot force people to associate or socialize with other adults they do not wish to or compel people to talk to any adult they don’t want to in a social or personal setting. The only way this will all end is if the JW religion dies out..Anybody who thinks otherwise is beating their head against a wall.
can you add to this:.
"does anything about your religion trouble you as a jehovah’s witness or is it all good?
some of the things that would trouble me if i were a jehovah’s witness would include:.
OVERRATED:
Be very glad you did not do this!
There is nothing sadder than an over fifty person trying to get a job for the first time in their life. And we are talking about today in an economy that is ruined and after several decades of sending jobs overseas - not to mention age discrimination they will face. This isn’t the 1970s when there were jobs aplenty! Hell no, those days are gone. The fired bethelites are facing just about the worst work environment.
I’m SO glad I’m not around there to hear hard-luck stories and appeals for money.
Even though I feel somewhat sorry for these older bethelites who are let go - I also know they made callous, ignorant remarks like ‘not spiritual’ or ‘materialistic’ about people in congregations who worked full-time. I was one such person who was criticized.
So, the way I see it, some of them richly deserve to know what it is like to have to work at an actual job and earn their pay..like the rest of the people in the world! ..Good luck to them. This is a far better sentiment than anything I would have ever gotten from them!
