How many of you remember the "Pioneer Shuffle " and the special "time reporting" of pioneers?

i started pioneering in my late teens an remember how slow pioneers would walk to the doors while out in circus.

also, they would not really talk to anybody at all.

they would start their time as soon as they got dressed an out the door, while us regular shucks started our time at the first door we knocked at.

I don’t know your age, but be glad you quit and got a Real job!…There are ex-JWs and even PIMI JWs today who wish they made that decision.

When I was an ‘active’ Witness (with a full-time job), I was of the opinion that the Only people who could afford to pioneer were Retirees or maybe schoolchildren on summer vacation.

I felt it was the height of hypocrisy for older JWs collecting their pensions (obviously from the workforce) telling younger gullible JWs to pursue poverty and pioneer.

I knew in my heart these younger JWs would regret it later. I always said I didn’t want to be anywhere near these people when reality hit them..It HAS hit and their retirement age has arrived ..A few younger people back then might have pioneered for a while and then stopped for various reasons most of which were financial. They needed to get regular work. These lucky few could probably retire.

I am so Thankful I ignored all the labeling I got back then. I was considered ‘not spiritual’ because I wouldn’t pioneer/do favors for all the Users.. I perceived real anger towards me!!..As a ‘punishment’ I was hardly invited anywhere, but that’s okay. As an older person it’s absurd to look back at all this stupidity, but I’m very glad today I followed my gut. 👍🏻

I was reading posts on Reddit about it.

A lot of ‘Faders’ and PIMOs aren’t happy about it..In fact, some PIMIs aren’t going to be happy either. A lot of people just don’t want to get dressed up and drag themselves to a place where I don’t think too many liked being in the first place. How many people gained weight and maybe don’t fit into suits or ‘dressy’ type outfits? How many like the idea of shelling out more money for gas nowadays to go to a Kingdom Hall that is further away since they sold off the nearest one?

In my opinion, the religion ‘needs’ to do this because they have to see with their own eyes a headcount of just HOW many Witnesses will return!!..Two years is a long time and Faders and fence-sitters probably would say ‘screw it’ and couldn’t stomach it.

I think the only people glad the halls will be open are the elderly (because meetings are their social life). The other ones I bet would be Users and ‘needy’/types who never wanted to work. (It helps to be in person to corner people for money and favors!)..The halls being closed two years must have cramped their style and forced them to get creative!

Even though I’m Glad I’m no longer in this religion, it will be interesting to hear how this all goes!

I am a twenty-one year ‘Fader’ from the Witness religion. I was raised Catholic with a decent childhood who didn’t miss out on things a JW would…So, I probably had an easier transition back into the Real world after getting myself out of this rabbit hole/trap I mistakenly stepped into!

That is a good assessment of the whole thing. Count yourself lucky you never got involved with the JWs as you were spared very much mental anguish among other things! 👍🏻

Yes, I remember that scary time period of the Cuban Missile Crisis!!

I was a little kid in grade school and we had duck-and-cover drills, either under our desks or going in the hallway with our coats over our heads as we leaned against the wall…I was very intuitive and felt the danger and concern in the air. I remember the murmuring of adults I overheard at church, etc..

I’m sure some other people on the forum remember it was about this time that everybody started to see those bright yellow and black “Fallout Shelter” signs that were posted on certain buildings..my school being one of them!

Pat Robertson makes one last ''doomsday prediction''

pat needs to make one last appearance to show his followers he was right all along.

after all his failed predictions on his ''700 club,'' pat needs to show his followers that this ''doomsday prediction'' is a bible prophecy.

JHINE:

The USA is supposedly the land of religious freedom (last time I checked). Many have fled here from Europe and elsewhere over the last century or so up until now either because they could not practice their religion or were in fear for their lives because of it.

The downside to this is that there is a proliferation of every type of religion, sect, cult, movement, group or whatever you want to call it. Whether anybody likes this or not or rolls their eyes this is the way it is (until it isn’t). Freedom is good but unfortunately can be taken advantage of.

I don’t consider myself at this point to be a religious person. I feel that religions should have a material and tangible benefit to the public if they don’t pay taxes! (And so-called free bible studies doesn’t cut it, in my opinion.) They better have material and not ‘spiritual’ 🙄 programs to help the needy and the youth in the community like some churches in Christendom do.

Otherwise they should not be allowed to exist.

I was not yet in the JW religion in 1975. I was blissfully unaware of this fiasco and living my life in the Catholic religion and working and enjoying life like a normal young adult.

I was enticed in several years later. The rest is history. I’m Glad I’m out now. It’s sad to read about what went on pre-1975 in the religion and how JWs sold businesses, homes, etc…only to find out it was all for nothing. I’m glad a huge chunk of people never came back to the religion. (The old adage of fool me once..). The religion’s cleverly worded response you quoted is, of course, denial on their part. Just where did the rank & file get the idea from??

But, getting back to the latest world event in the Ukraine:..Witnesses and any of these other religions should be careful what they wish for.. They have no idea what they will suffer. I have No wish to live through an end of the world scenario and I’m sure most sane, sensible people would not want to either!

ROAD TO NOWHERE:

Yes. When I began my ‘Fade’ from the JW religion twenty-one years ago I made peace with the idea that people get old and die.

I did NOT believe the religion’s fantasy and felt it was an unhealthy trick to play on my mind. Yes, in my opinion the Witnesses are angry and dismayed they have reached old age and they are not in their promised ‘paradise’!..To boot, those of them who never got decent jobs/careers and preferred to be in the ministry are now freaking out because they are utterly unprepared for retirement!

I sincerely hope for everybody’s sake this Ukrainian conflict does not become the worldwide disaster certain people are selfishly hoping for because of their own misery!!

It’s too bad if anybody (in ANY fundamentalist religion/radical Christianity) is wishing and hoping that this conflict in Ukraine be the ‘End’ of the world!

Of course, the JWs have always been wishing for the end to come.

However, for the last few years I detected an amped-up wishing for the End by JWs who didn’t prepare or save for retirement (because of faulty advice)..and don’t want to deal with the consequences!! This anger and desperation, I believe, is really at the heart of why so many JWs want the End to come - and to hell with everybody else!

Are Jehovahs Witnesses a cult?

this question has been presented many times throughout the years.

somewhat recently, there has been much talk surrounding the "bite method" :.

"bite” stands for behavior, information, thought, and emotional control.. some examples were thrown at me, such as the decisions of who we associate with, discouraging any worldy media, encouraging our brothers and sisters to report any of our misbehaviours to the elders, our rejection of criticism on the truth, shunning etc.. what do we think about this?.

I imagine it must’ve been hard to see the man you married change so drastically after he joined the Witness religion!

I also believe the religion fits the definition of a cult. What makes them so dangerous is how seemingly harmless they appear to be on the outside..They just don’t seem anything like those other famous cults like Jonestown or Waco. The problem with the JWs comes later with the lifestyle when you’re in the thick of it.

Also, the problem with the JWs is that not everybody is equally damaged by it, in my observation..It’s hit and miss and depends on who you are!..Some people have a fairly happy life there; others might be devastated. For example: it’s harder on women.. IF a woman does not get married OR get a career - she ends up poor if she follows the nonsense about ‘pioneering’..While this can also happen to a man, unfortunately, we live in a man’s world and a woman will end up worse off.

I also agree that not every religion is a cult by today’s definition. I was raised Roman Catholic and could see the contrast. As you said, in most churches you can disagree about certain things and not be viewed as ‘evil’ 🙄 like in the JWs.

Yes, it’s funny you said JWs are like ‘body snatchers’. But, thankfully, in my case, I got MY body the hell out of there 👍🏻.

i saw the post on reddit and the thread got many responses..can anybody believe the religion is still saying this??

it has to be as plain as day that so many jws are poor and struggling today because they never got a career or decent job years ago.. sadly, there are still witnesses who believe money will fall from heaven if they are in the full-time ministry.

they expect some miracle to occur..but, we all know the truth: people in the congregation will be hit up for yet more money for another bunch of irresponsible people pursuing poverty.

What you brought out is precisely why I am GLAD I am no longer in the JW religion. I have No intention of being a sitting duck targeted to give money to irresponsible people who never worked.

I would not do this even if I HADN’T been shunned for having a full-time job!

It is sad though about all the many Witnesses over the years who fell for this great big Con that they didn’t have to work hard, plan and save for retirement like normal people do. If I had also fallen for this, what predicament would I be in today??

They were led to believe they were somehow going to escape this responsibility (like they were going to ‘escape’ death and waltz into the ‘New System’)..I’m sorry, but I’d run from them. In fact, I would never go anywhere I was walking a gauntlet of panhandlers and needy with their hands out.

Brothers with businesses (and the religion they slaved for) are going to have to help them somehow!..Good luck!
