EXBETHELITE NOWPIMA:
Thanks. The link didn’t work for me but I looked up the place Uli Anambra State and it says it’s in Nigeria.

EXBETHELITE NOWPIMA:
You mentioned “4 JWs missing after assembly suspected abducted”.
I haven’t read about this anywhere. Could you please give some details about when and where this was supposed to have happened? Thanks.
kingdom halls will be the thing of the past.. conventions (mini assembly halls will still be going on) but will charge for attending and parking and always a donation.
elders will play a much smaller role since csa.
cart preaching will replace door to door.
BETH SARIM:
The 1995 Generation teaching was what shocked me into my ‘Fade’.
So, I am sure it affected many other lives because very many JWs left in the several years after. For those who did not leave, I hope it served as a wake-up call to start getting concerned about retirement plans!
as a jw, did you ever know of totally unchristian behavior ( boners) by some "fine" witnesses?
i know of more than my fair share and will reveal some.
an elder/pioneer kicked his elderly wife who had alzheimer's out.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH:
Wow! The story about the guy who dumped his Alzheimers wife is outrageous enough.
But that other one with the guy who married the sister and changed his mind and pulled all those shenanigans really takes the cake. Even though outrageous things like this could possibly happen in the ‘world’ (some small town), they would be more likely to happen in a cult somewhere. Typical behavior of cloaking some man’s sins so he gets away with even more things!
to most, being disfellowshiped is a terrible loss of friends family and god's perceived approval.
but not to mark jones.
in his words..... the best way i can describe it, is like when you leave highschool for the last time.
VANDERHOVEN7:
That’s a lot of reasons for somebody to not want to be in the JW religion (said mostly from a male’s perspective).
I could add a few to that list from my perspective, such as: no longer being scrutinized over my clothing and being respected as a responsible adult female.
BRIBIE:
I doubt very much that many JWs who end up leaving the religion do so because they want to “enjoy birthdays and celebrate some ancient Roman festival”. 🙄 More likely it was to get away from all the trouble, drama, criticism, emotional abuse, pushy elders and whatever.
Birthdays and celebrations were the last things on my mind when I ‘Faded’ (fled) from the religion!
remember the made up stories of witnesses in djibouti, africa where they had to walk 2 days in alligator infested waters with no shoes in the blazing sun to attend the meetings?
they made it to the meetings in these terrible conditions.. talk about made up stories!
here is a field service experience that was told at yesterday's public talk which would fall into the made up stories!.
FOUND SHEEP:
I know what you mean about those assembly parts.
The ones that bothered me were the so-called experiences of people who claimed they either gave up a college education or a lucrative job in order to pioneer.. What nobody will ever hear about are when these people had to get off the pioneer list a few years later because of financial problems!
mass shooting at a kingdom hall in hamburg, germany this evening.
at least 6 or 7 killed, dozens injured.
single shooter on the run, police doesn't rule out more shooters.
CURIOUS CONFUSED & FREEMAIL:
I read through all the posts on here and nobody said that any JW sitting in a hall anywhere deserves this.
If this is not a terrorist incident and is the result of a disturbed and vindictive person, it in No way suggests that any JW there deserves this. Nobody does. In explaining that certain policies can cause distress, does not imply an excuse for anybody’s actions.
Don’t put words in anybody’s mouth that they did not say!
I think some people on here need to check out an adult education course in reading comprehension!!

This is very tragic news! 😞
Possibly somebody personally affected by the religion’s policies has gone off the deep end(?) Not making any excuses for anybody’s behavior, but if that’s the case, as BETH SARIM said: it’s coming home to roost. Policies like shunning, etc. would definitely have repercussions.
Very sad and yet another reason for JWs to stay home on Zoom rather than risk going to a meeting and have something like this happen!

MAGNUM:
I see what you’re saying, but if the number of Witnesses continues to decrease (which I don’t think can be avoided), they will have to make do with what’s there. Who knows? Maybe their doctrine will change. Haven’t they made other changes over time?
The older JWs will inevitably pass away, not to mention PIMO family members who stop going because there’s no reason to fake it anymore. The religion will then be a shadow of its former self.
Maybe it’s more than a few years. Who knows exactly when this will happen and what the religion/organization will do to stay afloat? Who knows what form the amoeba will take? It should be interesting to see for whoever is around to witness this.
hey.
does anyone else dread attending (in person or on zoom) the memorial months in advance?.
literally as soon as new year hits, i feel sick and super anxious, and i've realised it's because of the memorial, which i only attend because of family, who kinda tell me the reason they have bad health is cuz i left the jw sevel years ago..
HIDDLESWIFE:
You are certainly right about the meetings being a source of anxiety - because of the attitudes of the people there. You were being sized up for whatever reason: how you looked, how you dressed, etc.
I didn’t realize how true this was until I stopped going. When I began my ‘Fade’ and stayed home on meeting nights, I soon rediscovered the peace I had many years before I came into the JW religion. What a wonderful feeling it was. I realize what happened was a gradual process that people got used to without realizing what was happening!.. But, this is all in the past and I am wiser to this and I’m sure other people feel similarly!
Never again!
