Yes, there was a shocking case of the two sons who killed their JW parents (German sounding name) but I wonder if it was in the PA area.
not sure if anyone really remembers this case, it was huge at the time.
the very interesting point though about this was that at the time the parents were known to be very active in the jw religion.
i also believe that the father may have been an elder(i could be mistaken, though).

now that these relatively recent changes on dress and grooming, reporting fs time, judicial matters, etc.
GRANDFATHERED:
Welcome to the forum.
ILOOWY.GOOWY:
I agree that the JW religion has turned people off from following Jesus as the way to salvation. But, I’m not certain where the religion is headed with this(?) as there were strange things I was reading over the months! (strange song introduced..) I could be mistaken but stay tuned.
You are also right about people using up the best years of their lives. They served the religion and some have ended up destitute following very bad advice about not getting careers or planning for retirement. I personally experienced this pressure years ago as a young working person and am glad now that I never listened.. This should be a cautionary tale for everybody!
putting this under beliefs, doctrine and practices because i don't see a better heading.
here is what i have been thinking for years now and the situation with the recent storms and the devastation brings in closer to home in my thinking.
i lived in western nc for 20 years and moved to wv in feb of this year.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH:
You are right when you say “they really can’t talk about it or question that which is presented ….”
I was discussing all the changes in the religion last year with a couple of JWs I keep in touch with. The change that shocked me was the dropping of counting of time with the slip. Obviously, this was not a biblical teaching and was probably somebody’s opinion. But, I was judged over this years ago because I worked full time and was that ‘low hour publisher’.
I said that I was glad I never listened all those years ago and ‘what would have happened to me if I did’? Etc.. They were a little offended and it was then I realized that too many Witnesses think the religion is ‘right’ even when it is wrong!
i wanted to share with you a letter that is circulating in some spanish-speaking congregations.
it is about the covid-19 vaccine and the governing body.
there is an english translation that i got today and i put it in the links.
ILOOWY.GOOWY:
’Never heard of an elder asking to see an inoculation card’.🤣
It’s a good thing I am a longtime ‘Fader’ who has been out of the Witness religion for ages. I think they overstepped their boundaries getting involved with something like this.
As it happens I did not get the Covid shot.. I know some JWs who did get it and are regretting it.
putting this under beliefs, doctrine and practices because i don't see a better heading.

ENOUGHISENOUGH:
I certainly understand your rant about the stupidity of the rank & file Jehovah’s Witnesses.
They are not just stupid but are also complicit, in my opinion. As, It is THEY who carry out shunning and other evils in the religion at the direction of the leaders.. It was the rank & file Witnesses who made sure I was shunned and not invited years ago when I was a young working woman in the congregation.
I am retired now but I have no pity for any rank & file JW who didn’t work to plan for their future.. They are just fools as your post describes - only they are old fools. And everybody knows there’s no fool like an old fool.
I’m Glad I got out of the religion ages ago.
ST. GEORGE OF ENGLAND:
Good for you for not signing anything like this!
I am a longtime ‘Fader’ who stopped maybe the end of 2001. They hadn’t yet started with this garbage about collecting people’s information. They had my then address and phone number and whatever stupidity they scribble on somebody’s card. That is sufficient info for them to have as far as I am concerned.
Sorry for anybody who gave them anything more OR if they have details about any judicial committees, etc. Who can know what data base(s) it is in or will go into(?).. There is no confidentiality there and anybody on the forum who thinks otherwise is laboring under a delusion.
i don't have anything good to say about these people.. if you can get past all of the ambient abuse.. if you can get past all of the twisted lies and shameful history.. if you can get past all of the familes destroyed and children damaged from the blood and 2 witness policy.. if you can get past all of the real estate laundering and for profit lies; it is all about the money.. if you can get past all of the hypocricy and bitterness.. if you can get past all of the gb megalomaniacs.. if you can get past all those things.. i still can't find anything good to say about this shameful group of ignorant people.. shame on each and every one of you controlling liers.. shame on each and every one of you who aid and abet this continued ambient abuse and ridiculous fraud of an organization.. shame on you..
FRAZZLED UBM:
Glad this old thread was resurrected. Don’t know if you still lurk here but your post is excellent.
When I read ‘Crisis of Conscience’, what R. Franz described sounded like a Communist regime to me. Like you, I have no sympathy for the rank & file Witnesses.. I consider them complicit and it is they who carry out ‘shunning’ and other evils.
I am a long time ‘Fader’ who worked full-time years ago who dealt with shunning to a degree and gossiped about by the rank & file JWs.. Now in retirement I feel no pity whatsoever for these smug Witnesses who reached senior years unprepared.. They listened to the religion and made poor choices expecting that Armageddon would save them.
Here we are eleven years after your post was written and things are pretty much the same except the religion has lost many people. In my opinion, when the Boomers are gone that’s it.
calamity howling is always in style with some folks, every year.
1974 was 50 years ago this year!
i was fresh out of high school bright eyed and earnest about all things jw and watchtower.
BALAAMSASS2 & DISGRUNTLED FOOL:
It would seem all the worldly dads were correct in their financial advice about how to plan for the future.
I would have liked to shake that elderly man’s hand who said not to listen to the GB with regard to your job/future.. There were so few honest Witnesses and I would have appreciated more honesty like this. I made sure I told younger JWs there to plan for their future.
Back when I was a young working woman in the congregation, I didn’t even know who the governing body were. Why would I listen to some stranger telling me to quit my job and pursue poverty?.. What about the older retired people in the congregation? Were THEY singled out and told to clean toilets???
I am SO glad I followed my gut and Dad’s wisdom ... I kept my job til the end.. Didn’t care who disliked me.
I have NO interest in anybody there who listened to the religion and pioneered for decades waiting for Armageddon to save them... Let them go ask either the religion or their spiritual friends for financial aid!
new to the forum.
i have a question i did not get any feed back for on another site.
what to these people who gave decades working for free in bethel when they are 60 plus years old.
NOT FORMER:
I agree with everything you said in your post.
Today’s ’older destitute JWs’ not only denigrated and demonized other churches who have social programs that are keeping many alive - they ALSO denigrated people like me... I was a young woman who worked full-time and wasn’t buying any nonsense about doing housecleaning and full time ministry.. If I had listened I wouldn’t be retired today.
In all likelihood, these older needy JWs pioneered and didn’t ‘count the cost’! They enjoyed a great social life back then when young and got invited to those special dinners. How many times did they listen to derogatory remarks about working people like me? So, they are guilty in my eyes.
Too bad they didn’t do the math in their head when they saw older people there with cushy lives who were already in the workforce.. I was young and saw this and made sure I kept on working. Meanwhile, they were waiting for Armageddon to save them.
No, I don’t feel sorry for them and am Glad to not be around them or in the religion anymore…
JWs and ex-JWs on the forum who imagine anybody owes older needy JWs (who never really worked) anything are just plain mistaken. The RELIGION owes these people because that is who they worked for - and it is just gaslighting to say otherwise.
i got this notification from ex-jw reddit today via email:.

BETH SARIM:
We are going to hear more and more about the ramifications on this topic as yet more JWs either wake-up or get kicked out of bethel…..There is another thread by some innocent person asking about People who Worked Free for the Cult for Many Years, etc.
IF the religion sells off halls and goes online at some point - I think this will be devastating to many JWs as they realize they cannot depend on their religion that they saw as a ‘Rock’.
This is ALL a horror story and should serve as a cautionary tale for gullible people who did not work/prepare and made the mistake of trusting in any religion for important things in their life. 😮 God gave you a brain and capabilities and never told you to trust in someone else to think for you!
