While this sounds hopeful to all of us….will the GB actually agree to show up? OR will they go into hiding???
I wonder…
it’s now official - the governing body members are called for legal deposition in a major court case against jehovah’s witnesses!
https://www.reddit.com/r/exjw/comments/1ke6cgh/its_now_official_the_governing_body_members_are/.
recent court documents show that members of the jehovah’s witnesses governing body — including former member tony morris — have been officially subpoenaed to give sworn testimony regarding cases of sexual abuse in new york and how the organization dealt with (or essentially hid) them.

i finally got my own copy of the new song book in english.
i notice that the lyrics in one of the songs have been changed from:.
fear not those who kill the body, but cannot destroy the soul.
GORB:
I remember this awful song as well.🤮
when i was growing up i remember many young people interviewed on the platform at assemblies.
the ones who really stood out are the talented ones who gave up amazing lives to pioneer.. i remember specifically when i was a boy in the 70s and 80s some who were very good at sport or something.
their teachers begged them to get professional training use their talents to the full.
JOHN R1975:
I remember those young JW testimonials at the assemblies years ago. They gave up jobs/scholarships to be in the full-time ministry.
I wasn’t born-in and was not swayed by any of this.. I kept on working full-time. They all hated me but I am glad Now I never listened….You mention how those JWs are broke now and will ‘be a burden to others’. I heard this term over the years I was a JW. There is an underlying wrong assumption in the Witness religion that ‘other people in the congregation’ are going to give them money.. Meanwhile they knocked people with full-time jobs. They could Dream on as far as I was concerned.
To me this is a fallacy and urban legend and I’m Glad I’m not around this anymore!.. I remember an older sister who told me about her few cleaning jobs who said “I wouldn’t want to be a burden on the congregation”. I thought to myself that she was nuts if she imagined people in the Kingdom Hall were going to support her.
I saw a post on Reddit fairly recently where a person related how they gave up all to pioneer and apparently expected charity of some sort to come from somewhere. They were disillusioned that it did not.. This is/was an attitude that I observed years ago… Sadly, this mentality persists to this very day in the Jehovah’s Witnesses.. It is all the more ridiculous as their numbers are decreasing and there are even fewer people left to bum money from.
how many of you here remember 1975?
i hope the newer generations never forget.the true believers got shamed for it.
those who were hedging their bets, fared much better.
BALAAMSASS2:
Yes, that’s the biggest lesson current Witnesses need to take away from this story: whether they lived through 1975 or not... Don’t repeat their mistakes. If anybody studies WT history there were several.
All those older Witnesses from previous generations went to their graves with unfulfilled expectations.. Imagine the sacrifices these people made??
To think I just missed the 1975 thing because I didn’t come into the religion until several years later. But, I am grateful. Sorry for all those Witnesses who did crazy things like quitting jobs or selling homes and possessions and having to start over. No apologies. Just STFU and carry on the bullshit. I’m not surprised many left the Witness religion after that.
If I had known about this major failure - I might not have gotten involved with the Witnesses. As it was, I could be suffering today if I had listened to those hateful bastards back then telling me to quit my job.. Thank God I obstinately refused!

LIAM:
I get your point.🤣 I wasn’t in the Witness religion yet so I also never experienced the hype and fervor that has been written about.
If 1975 was the End I wouldn’t have known what hit me.. I was still a Catholic girl.
The bad part about all the younger people like yourself not having experienced 1975 and consequently not caring about it — is that the JW religion wins.. It gets to bury yet another mistake. History repeated itself. I am sure the one thing the JW religion loves is when old timers pass away.. Then there are no living witnesses to point the finger!
I came into the JWs several years after and I may have experienced a leftover harsh pre-1975 mentality with busybodies trying to get me to quit my job.. I Thank God now that I paid no attention to those people!
i was completely out by 1991 and 1989 would have been the last time i had to attend regularly.
that over the top franz writing style was still there in the 1980's although i've heard he wasn't actually doing much writing by then.
but his style was definitely picked up and imitated for many years beyond its wacky, outlandish peak of the the 50's - 70's.
WING COMMANDER:
You are right that the ‘jig was up’ after their 1995 Generation change!
I was sitting in the Hall as this article was discussed. I knew right then and there that it was over and I was leaving. They were just stringing everybody along. The long term ramifications of this were the thousands who left in the years after this. However, many Witnesses stayed.. Some may have had a lightbulb moment and realized they better get serious about a well-paying job because ‘the system’ was going on.
This was Thirty years ago…enough time to get better employment and retirement. Sorry about Witnesses in sleep mode who did nothing!!
At this point, I don’t believe there could be any new ‘Oracle’ that will save this religion.
the following is from the latest study watchtower july 2025, study article 28, paragraph 17:.
each christian must make up his or her own mind about whether to accept or to reject these fractions.
we may find it a challenge to understand this matter fully, but making decisions like this is part of the load that each of us must carry.
BALAAMSASS2:
I never thought about Orthodox Jews and accepting blood transfusions. Good.
I always had a problem with what I thought was the Witness religion’s desire to see people actually sacrifice their lives.. Maybe others didn’t see or think this but I did.
They don’t care how you sacrifice your life: whether you’re gullible enough to pursue poverty in a worthless ministry OR if you or a loved one succumb to their faulty blood doctrine…
I hope more people catch on to critical thinking and reject this suicidal mentality.
how did i miss this after studying the rev.
book 3 times:.
obeying christ’s kingdom rule, they (the great crowd) hope to inherit its blessings here on earth.
SEA BREEZE:
You know? I think they might.
Neither they nor anyone else would have ever gotten any kind of ‘adoration’ from me.. I was never impressed with the GB even before they came out on the broadcasting. I’m not a creature worshipper like other fools in that religion.
I remember the days when they were anonymous and there was a ‘holy mystique’ conferred to them. I also remember some JWs speaking so ‘reverently’ about them.. I just didn’t get this and kept it to myself. They were just men to me.
breaking: fbi director kash patel has announced the arrest of milwaukee judge hannah dugan for obstructing ice during the arrest of an illegal alien.
patel: "we believe judge dugan intentionally misdirected federal agents away from the subject to be arrested in her courthouse, eduardo flores ruiz, allowing the subject — an illegal alien — to evade arrest.".
.
ANONY MOUS:
Thanks for telling it like it is about January 6 and the illegal immigration issue and the actual numbers coming into the U.S. - compared to European countries. I’d like to see all of them (and any other critics) deal with something like this!!
Sadly, too many people just won’t care and will still believe what they want!!!
when the gb brought a formal end to all the type/antitypes in so many ways it could be said that they brought the religion to an end.
the other sheep/anointed teaching that leads to a two class religion was originally based on two antitypes--the jehu/jehonadab relationship and something about the cities of refuge.
in that 2014 annual meeting talk david splane even specifically stated that the cities of refuge has no antitype.
AQWSED12345:
I remember all those types and anti-types and making myself dizzy trying to remember all that nonsense.😊
I’m a long time ‘Fader’ so I don’t know at what point the Jehovah’s Witnesses conveniently dropped this.. I know what you mean about the ‘silence’. I think the R&F are cowardly in their silence. But, this is a fear-based religion with every other person with their head down afraid to even ask a question.. I never respected this mentality.
I walked away from this charade after their 1995 Generation teaching.. I wasted enough time there and knew they didn’t know anything. They were just stringing everybody along.. Sorry for anybody still sitting there now in 2025.
