You are so right in all of these areas.

A Jehovah’s Witness is simply set up for financial failure if they follow the ‘rule book’ and listen to the stifling culture there.

As I mentioned, I was not raised in the religion so certain things you said I never would have done. For example: “your good JW friends will discourage you from topping off your 401K…” [This confessing mentality and having everybody know your business is absurd and foreign to non-JWs. That would be like me telling the man on the corner my business!].. Witnesses are fooled to think they are in one big happy family. They aren’t.

As it was, even though I wasn’t raised a Witness, some of the dysfunction still rubbed off on me. The tendency to daydream and let time slip by is almost fatal.. I could have done MUCH better for myself.. Thank God it wasn’t worse and that I at least did what I did and worked! 🙏🏻

Even JWs who might be inclined to give money to freeloaders in the congregation might be less generous in a bad economy.

As someone not raised a Witness and brought up by hardworking and thrifty people, I was appalled by what I saw were just plain deadbeats in the religion.. However, there were also very responsible people there who wouldn’t ask anybody for anything.

I wondered why there wasn’t a denunciation of these freeloaders. Then I realized the religion wouldn’t want to discourage these people because they were in the full time ministry.. So there were ‘hints’ that people should ‘help’ them.. Not me. Not after I was treated like an outcast for working! I wasn’t giving anybody there a damn thing.

The eighties era had a great economy. If only these Witnesses didn’t throw good jobs away with both hands and arrogantly scoff at me for working. They might be in decent shape today…instead of something I would run from.

The Governing Body is Restructuring the Org.and encouranging young ones to REACH OUT!

the governing body just doesn't let up on encouraging the young children to reach out to do free labor for the organization.

so another generation of young people with ruined lives.

another generation of young people that will get old and wake up in their 50s to realize they were in a religious doomsday cult.. and they are getting rid of some old workers that ran the branches of the organization, and giving them different assignments or maybe they are just sending them home, who knows.

First of all, anybody over 80 has no home to go to. Everybody has died unless there is a nephew. Please tell me the JW religion isn’t sending people over 80 ‘home’ to serve in some congregation somewhere! God help that congregation.. I hope this is a misunderstanding and they are just giving them different assignments in bethel. I know the religion is downsizing, but really? This would be very low down.

Every time I turn around I read something that makes me thankful I got out years ago.

I remember being out in service years ago and hearing more than once from some Witness I was with that some ‘worldly’ person’s nice house could be theirs after Armageddon.

This never sat well with me even though I said nothing.. As for that phrase “they are having their Paradise now” or “having their reward in full”, I felt Witnesses were simply envious miserable idiots over anybody who looked like they had a little something.

To my mind, many Witnesses were having their own reward in full now with their superiority complex and cliques.

Of course the affluent Witnesses aren’t going to give up their toys and cliques! Like you said, it’s 95% show of a theocratic veneer. Most of them are probably happy with their social lives there.. Whatever.

As far as the young JWs :: I am happy to hear they aren’t forfeiting scholarships nowadays. I saw this foolishness on stage at assemblies decades back. But I was not swayed and kept on working.. Anybody with one ounce of sense only has to look at the predicament those older pioneers are in today!

And so it goes in the JW religion that keeps reinventing itself. But I am glad to be Out.

there is a lot of exjws who have been out 10-20-30-50 years, but for some reason, when they see a group of jehovah's witnesses, sitting by their carts, drinking coffee, scrolling through phones, laughing, something inside happens.

most can't explain it.

some say it makes their blood boil.

That is certainly a horror story about that elderly man! Losing a loved one over the blood issue has to be the worst.. Luckily my story was nowhere near as bad as that.

True I wasted time and had hurt feelings but I can laugh at it now.

What I came to see is that not everybody is equally damaged by the Witness religion. Some JWs have a nice life there and couldn’t relate to any of this. As far as ‘forgiveness’ is concerned, the religion certainly isn’t owed any by this man!

In my case, it was them interfering and trying to control my life. When I refused they made sure I got shunned. Even though we know the religion’s teachings are bad, who I blame are the R&F for carrying out the mean-spirited attitude! ..This is why I have zero pity today for the pioneers in my congregation back then who hardly worked.

Yeah, I despise the religion and their hypocrisy.

I get particularly angry because all these rank & file JWs will not openly admit that the religion is responsible for the poverty there with their knocking of education and careers.. I couldn’t even be around this anymore because I would be put in a confrontational position and have to tell people off when they came up to me asking for money.👎

As for your suggestion that they ‘take up a geography class’, forget it. The education here in the U.S. has gone downhill for decades. And I don’t care who doesn’t like that I’m saying this.. Forget geography, (accurate) history, spelling and grammar and reading comprehension.. They are doing away with cursive so the idiots can’t sign their names or read historic documents.

They don’t even teach practical things so life-skills aren’t learned. Years ago they had home economics and shop classes.

Wokeism and other garbage have taken over. Will this trend ever really reverse? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yes, the whole history of White colonial oppression of Black/Brown people is a stain on history. Unfortunately, there is no making anyone happy about this.

The problem is that White people today had no part in any of this. It certainly wasn’t my ancestors that had anything to do with this. Today, it is trendy and acceptable for people of color to be knocking White people.

People who don’t want White people around don’t deserve to be anywhere near them or benefit from anything they have as far as I am concerned.

As far as the situation in So. Africa, if it were up to me, all the White people should get out and leave the Blacks on their own.. Show them how to farm and walk away.. But, the situation is too complicated and people owned farms for generations.

As far as Trump letting those farmers into the U.S., I’m glad. Maybe people here don’t remember that many Cubans were allowed to come here decades ago and Iranians later on. These people were seen to be ‘endangered’. Well, so are the Whites in South Africa. They should all get out of that hellhole even if they can’t all come here. Besides, it was ‘okay’ when Biden opened the floodgates and let in hordes of illegals from everywhere and turned the country into a shithole.

As far as me personally, I try to get along with people of every color. Some do not like me because I am White (I even saw this in the JW religion). This is not my problem. Some fools there were plainly jealous and thought I was ‘rolling in dough’ because I worked. Not true. I just was paying my bills. Any ‘privilege’ I had was to pay disproportionately high taxes because I was single!

So, there is no easy answer to this.
