  Awful Friends.

  i have some awful friends.

  loud, demanding, boorish, mean, cantankerous, boozy, critical, flirtatious, foul-mouthed and generally obnoxious in every possible way.

  but they're still my friends.

  It is good that you have friends you like without having to pass the JW litmus test. The problem with JWs is that they are heavy into judging.
  
  Someone once told me that there can be no room for love in a heart that is so full of judgmentalism. The two things cannot co-exist. So when JWs say they are loving it is just not true as we have all experienced.

  ok, so my wife keeps telling me that it's just me, but i can't help but think that this country has gone completely quackers when i see some of the comercials on tv.

  the gecko doing the "robot" , the king wanting me to eat a 50 pound breakfast sandwich, wake up with the king?

  wtf, and the whole way things are just thrown in our face in the form of advertising.

  what is the most ridiculous song that you couldn't listen too.. because of so called bad lyircs (maybe misheard lyrics), sexy beat or because fo the person who sang it didn't have the proper morals?.

  mine.... couldn't listen to ac/dc because it meant they went both ways.

  People there said you shouldn't listen to Stairway to Heaven because of supposed backwards lyrics and one sister told me not to listen to Upside Down you Turn Me - I forget why. There were others I can't remember. For years I changed the radio station when I heard Stairway to Heaven. Now I listen to all of these songs any chance I get!

  I would have to say it is the free flow of information on the internet.
  
  If I had known about their past I would never have joined (sounds like a club, ha ha). But really, the fact that they cannot just reinvent themselves without the whole world knowing is very bad for them. The other scandals are bad also but with the internet available you see them all at once. They must be burning made about this.

  Is It Right To Tip Your Hat To A Lady?

  i've always thought it to be a charming and old-fashioned custom.

  my grandfather always did it.

  whenever he was out walking with me tagging along, he would always doff his hat whenever he passed a lady coming the other way, or whenever he he stopped to chat.

  I won't debate if it is right or wrong but there is an elderly gentleman in my neighborhood who tips his hat to me when he sees me and I am all smiles when he does it!!! (Whether I deserve it or not - it feels wonderful!)
  
  Of course, this used to happen more years ago when there were more of these gentlemen around. There were more "ladies" around too! Pity they have all passed away!

  JW work situation

  i work for a rather large financial institution in nyc.

  i run a large profit center and manage over 100 people.

  on of my best workers is a dub doing a slow but progressive fade.

  You have an obligation to speak to them separately (keep it a secret that you were a dub, of course). Make it VERY plain to each of them (but especially to the over-righteous one) that they have an obligation to act professionally and not hinder any communication which would obstruct the normal flow of business.
  I work in an office and am fully aware of the problems with dubs - both of the righteous variety and the un-righteous variety. There are problems with both, believe me! In each case I make them very well aware that I will not tolerate any over-stepping of their boundaries towards me. I tell them this is not the KH. I tell them they are on their own. I will not do favors for anybody because they are a dub. They also have no claim on me or my education, etc. ESPECIALLY since they don't really believe in education. Never mind their new light either!
  
  I have come to realize that many of them are a liability to their employers (because of breaking confidences), etc. Maybe they should stick to cleaning toilets.

  i got a call from the er last night---hubby had been in an accident and they were running tests and x-rays.

  he was in terrible pain.

  they called back during the night during the night saying he has a shattered sternum and other injuries.

  Advantages to being a JW

  i'd say that the biggest advantage of being a jw is that you learn the bible.

  growing up a jw (never baptized), i had many friends (mostly catholic) who didn't even know where most books of the bible were even located.

  jws really do learn and study the bible and this knowledge becomes very helpful once you start looking at the bible more objectively and not with wts binders.

  The advantages to being a JW are that I quit smoking (I might be dead by now) and I missed out on a whole generation of STD's for which I am very grateful. (There is a terrible price to be paid for screwing around now!!!)
  
  While it is true that any fundamentalist religion also teaches these things, the JWs made it mandatory that you not be engaging in these things.
