Yeah, the hypocrisy in the religion is so thick you can choke on it!

I especially despise those older JWs..Most have gone to their graves after living a cushy life and are not even around to help the broke pioneer Baby Boomers they misled who can’t even retire!!!…Imagine if I had caved in to the pressure everybody else fell for?…I’d be so screwed today it wouldn’t be funny!

There’s no accountability in that religion and you have people there suffering today because of faulty doctrines and peer pressure to be accepted. I have No regrets now that I was the ‘low hour publisher’ back then subjected to shunning and criticism. Glad I’m nowhere near it anymore!

OVERRATED:

Are the people there THAT stupid that they can’t see this??..The religion asks for educated professionals - but yet tells the average JW they shouldn’t get higher education. In other words, if YOUR education (that you paid for) can benefit the religion - that’s okay. But, if it’s for you to make your life better - that’s not okay. You should live in poverty and starve.

Very interesting reading about your work history! Like you, I’m retired and don’t want a job. I also like writing and could be a critic, but in this world it’s too dangerous. I could end up dead..In my fantasy though, I might see me either making or repairing jewelry or restoring things like artwork. No stress though and nobody on top of me.

JWs who are now paying the price of following the cult.

my in-laws are two such people.

people who pioneered and did not work and try to save, instead they made just enough to get by and waited for the end to come.

now my mil is in palliative care and the state is paying for her keep, my fil lives in a dilapidated home and can not keep it up.

Yes, very true. I remember them knocking Christendom all the time. Meanwhile, they offer NOTHING to anybody..but yet the churches of Christendom have programs to help the poor and needy.

I remember reading somewhere about young bethelites dismissed in recent years who were sent a bill for the last lunch they ate in the lunchroom!!..How’s that for compassion?

Any so-called ‘help’ any JW in a congregation ever got is because somebody went around with an envelope cornering people to contribute money!

I know a lot of JWs cling to fallacies and false hopes but I really hope people there are in reality about THIS!

Thanks for asking..Don’t want to give out that info because it would identify me! 😊

But, I didn’t do too badly for somebody with little ambition. I credit my non-Witness upbringing for helping me snap out of my stupidity...When I was younger in the early days of JW I was in the irresponsible phase. But, I woke up to reality in my early 30s and made sure I started seriously thinking about retirement and IRSs..(Even people gainfully employed can screw up if they aren’t wise about planning.)..I felt being in the religion puts people in a dreamlike state where they aren’t dealing with reality and the Clock on the wall is ticking away!

I have No regrets about ignoring the busybodies and hypocrites in the religion. So, what if I got shunned back then? Many of these older people aren’t even around today to help any of the broke Baby Boomers they misled!

Letter to the pioneers

is it true that the pioneers used to get letter each year?

I vaguely remember hearing about that high number amount of yearly hours a pioneer was supposed to get. It sounded amazing and unattainable.

You also mention that a person had to work a minimum of two days a week just to ‘maintain a subsistence living’. I vaguely remember hearing that as well. The problem is that if somebody did this their whole life they would have paid next to nothing into Social Security here in the US! ..Very bad come retirement.👎

I remember hearing about some younger people years ago who left pioneering and I assumed it was because of financial hardship. Hopefully, they planned for their future (which is here now).

ALIVE:

Sadly, in my opinion, many JWs have lost their humanity when they make remarks about non-JW people ‘having their reward in full’ just because they are well-off.

I felt too many JWs were self-righteous just because they put themselves in the position of pursuing poverty and I felt they are/were jealous of anybody (in or out of the religion) who is materially better off than they are.

I never concerned myself about the hypocritical attitudes of JWs with regard to wealth and careers. I just knew I had to look out for myself because nobody else there was going to support me!

I don’t know the present material status of the JW who made the callous remark about people with nice homes..but they are certainly a Baby Boomer over retirement age. They must be horrified if they have to struggle now to make ends meet. I know the husband does food deliveries and he’s over seventy.

Anyway, everybody have a wonderful Holiday season!

Yes, Thanksgiving is my favorite here in the US. It’s wonderful getting together with family and friends with great food.

My God, you are right! I stand corrected.

So, most of the bastards who were flapping their lips and trying to interfere in my life to get me to quit my full-time job were the ‘Silent Generation’, eh? They should have lived up to their name and kept their stupid mouths shut. However, there were some very old JWs of that Greatest Generation when I first came in but most of the offenders were younger.

If I had caved in to their pressure, I would not be retired today and would be in a very bad situation!!

This former ‘low hour publisher’ is very thankful today that I never listened to any of them of whatever generation!

Yes, you are certainly right about that.

In fact, in reading other things online it seems other Christian religions ALSO treat singles badly - especially single women. Luckily, I am not religious because I would NEVER set foot anywhere I would be viewed as a drudge who will do favors (not gonna happen)..OR who is out to steal somebody’s man away 🙄.

Luckily for me when I was a JW I kept my full-time job and had associations other than Witnesses. But, this was to my advantage when it was time to ‘Fade’. It went smoothly because somebody like me who was on the fringes of the congregation was hardly missed initially.

Now, it’s all in my rear view mirror and I can enjoy the Holidays and association with people who care about me, like the rest of the ‘normal’ human race does.
