hey gang!

i apologize for my absence of a few weeks.

i have been very busy with work lately, and i hate to write something that i haven't been able to research properly, so i haven't posted anything in this series for three weeks now.

I always look forward to reading your threads on evolution. Do you do the research for school and then relay it to us, or is this just for our benefit. Either way, it's very interesting. I find it amusing that some people will believe in stories (bible) with no proof that they actually happened, yet with all the evidence that evolution gives us they still deny it as something that cannot be proven. I just wish they would hold their stories to the same scrutiny. Well, anyways, to each his own.

How Do YOU Feel Knowing That YOU Were In A Cult?

for years, i refused to think of the witnesses as a "cult".

too harsh and restrictive of a word for me......but there is no denying that we were all in a mind controlling cult.

are you embarrassed or uncomfortable knowing that you belonged to a cult just like the moonies and the branch davidians are/werw a cult?

I never really realized how abnormal my life was until I got out of it. I'm glad that as soon as I became an adult I decided that the jw religion felt wrong to me. I wished I could have fallen away on my own instead of being kicked out. I think I would have felt better about the whole experience. I don't tell anyone anymore that I was a jw as a child, it only makes them look at you funny like you are a freak. I wish I had a normal childhood, but you can't turn back the clock. I'm just glad that my children will never experience such cruelty.

I think your findings about J-god are really interesting, maybe a psychiatrist would be just as interested in what you have to say because they study people and meet alot of people. And if you witness to them you could even win them over as another servant of jah. You never know, you should try it. Well, best wishes in your quest.

It's emotional abandonment!

And it's teaching the child that they are the ones that are sexually sick. They will have years of repercussions from this. Sad.

Just a question about love and religion

was a relationship/ being in love with a person who was a non-jw a factor in fading from the jw religion for anyone out there, and if so... would you mind sharing your story.

i really need to just get as much info as possible right now, as i am at a crossroads in my relationship and am searching for anything to give me hope.

ok so anyway i have been fading for a little over a year now.

during that time i have been primarily focusing on improving my social skills: reconnecting with old high school pals, trying to make sense of the world, trying to connect with others, opening myself up to new belief systems, activities.

now that i am becoming more comfortable around people i am considering pursuing a relationship with someone.
