i believe it to be a truism that the nature of the universe is indifference, to us. that is, in relation to us, the universe is poker-faced. but in relation to the universe-nature, our self-nature sees a slight smile, simply because there is room for one! and when one looks very closely, she sees that it is the Buddha-smile, and by lucid-extension her own knowing Human-smile reflected back to her in the dark and light swirling pool of the universe.
so, remember to smile. every smile is a symmetrical breath inward and outward, simultaneously, of a growing universe, that is You and your relation to it. this is the God-nature of Human-nature. Ultimately: Universe-nature. love it. nurture it. it is You and only You. if You choose to open your mind to universe-nature, like a flower opens itself to it's ecological niche in the morning, then avoid at all costs, at this most important time in your mind, and the universe's mind, stuffing dark, asphyxiated violence into it.
if you smile with true intention to the indifferent universe, it will smile back with equally true intention.
we all come from, and go to the same place my fellow and naturally divine children! so smile!

Tetra~ You have a PM and also I am sorry that someone is giving your wife a hard time. It seems like she has been through a lot and the last thing needed is someone messing with her. Good to see a husband actually admire his wife. That is how it should be.
hi sparkplug! actually, she is my ex-wife, (the opinion of the state on the status of my marriage means nothing to me), but yes i admire her. also just calling it as i see it.

recently, some insecure females spread hateful lies about my ex wife. however, instead of responding in kind, she told me how all people, including the purportrator, are tender reeds that need kindness and compassion in place of hurtfulness and psychosis.
this struck me as enlightened of her, transcending her female biology with such clarity. this part of the poem you posted reminded me of her.

time and again the refrain is heard that belief and science are mutually exclusive, that belief somehow corrupts good science, that belief is not empirical.
i'd like to throw another slant on that, if i may.. belief is an inherent part of the human psyche.
the desire to know more about our environment and how it all works is also an inherent part of our psyche.

in the last while, i have come to understand with greater clarity, that there are many ways of knowing, and being, of which the empirical is but one. a very important, and perhaps manifestly real one, but it is only one way of seeing, none-the-less. i think that people who only want to approach the universe and existence with *one* way of knowing and being, are short-changing themselves, even if it is ONLY the empirical that they hold to.
i believe that there is a balance (the middle-road-mind) to be struck with the empirical and transcendental, for an enriched human experience. one can truly experience, with a sort of faith (eek!), certain experiences of a so-called mystical nature, and still in the light of day analyze them with their empirical mind. i feel that there is power in this, as i am sure you know.
i mean, i think many of us know what the most elegant and simple explanations for mystical experiences are. i think science is showing us what they are. but i do not think that this knowledge lessens the value of the mystical experience. for example, over the last few months, i have had several experiences that many would consider totally mystical. this is because, in the moment that they were occuring, i was not seeing and being through the lense of skepticism, but rather through other conduits that i have become aware of. they were sublime, and beautiful, and i will always cherish them, knowing that language is not going to do them full justice. on the other hand, i also know what probably occured, and i would never try to convince any other person of their mystical nature, because i do not believe this is fair to me, or them. it was all in my head, and yet the experiences still held the power to change me at core. and they did.
i think that the message you bring to this site, ross, and the way you do it, is really cool man. but it's because you have obviously seen the Light too.

i remember your first letter. and it was fine and good based upon what you have experienced recently. but remember that by now you should also hold it as self evident that any anger you harbour to this old God of yours is really just anger inside of you that you have not resolved yet. anger comes from fear and guilt. fear and guilt are tarnish on the beautiful nature of humans. resolve fear and guilt, and the demon you call jehovah will disapear like the apparition you already know he is.
i know that the God-healing process is fraught with all sorts of psychological pitfalls and illusions. but remember that the new God in you, that is YOU, that is awakening now in your life and mind, does not need to shake fists at old Gods because they simply, do not, as i know you know, exist. in other words, you will heal faster and begin building human-nature in your mind structure when you stop calling any inside issues you may have, "Jehovah". i think this is worth saying considering that a person coming from whence you come is calling out something in your mind named "Jehovah". but i am just saying that Jehovah is a poor label. not only for this mental exercise, but for any positive ones trying to exercise themselves in your mind, one that will forever be an ex-jehovah-'s-witness.
from one godless/god-self journeyer to the next, i send you positive vibrations, knowing that it is not at the top of a stack of smart people where you belong, but in your own lotus shaped mind. fear not it's incarnation, for in it's incarnation there will be found no fears.

hi my man. i read your explanations of your experience in transformation. i find them interesting. very much so. you appear to be very at peace with the place you have come to. and this i am happy for you for.
i can say this with good intentions toward you, because i too believe that i have had similar experiences, though in my interaction with the divine i have in the end only found nature, and manifestations of universe-nature, whatever they may...natural none-the-less. and in this power, i as a human hold to two states of mind simultaneously, without reservation or guilt: in one hand my biology, and in the other my sphere of consciousness. in one hand the empirical mind of self consciousness, bloating ever outward in structural abstraction, and in the other hand the trembling child's-mind of a new consciousness shaped as it is like a flower, and bathed in light that is not so much described as a color, as much as the understanding that it is just so, Light.
i believe that when people describe their interactions with God, and the oneness and peace associated with these experiences, they are describing an awakening in themselves to their true nature, their true identity as god's themselves. in one world it is called evolution to another sphere of consciousness, just as we have evolved in the past to the one we inhabit now. and in other worlds, it must be described in other ways, and i will let them represent themselves if they are indeed any different than i. but peoples interactions with this state of consciousness cannot, and should not, be mistaken for divine interaction with anything other than that which has divinely manifested itself in you, by you. nature. your true nature. universe nature. oneness nature. but still nature.
when i say that i am an atheist, i believe that by extension this makes me a pantheist. i hold the divine nature of nature, to be just that, natural. and in so doing, find a venerable place of existence where what i thought was the incarnation of God, is actually an evolved incarnation of mySelf, human man, at this most paradoxically true moment in this part of the universe. and universe = nature. and nature = god because i am being in nature myself, along with the trillions of other living gods on this planet temple, namely everything that is in existence here.
if you see light, remember that it comes from your self awakened mind. and remember who gave it to you, because this is where the light shines from the brightest: You. with peace and awareness of oneness, You will reflect this light from the places where your known consciousness intersects with unknown places inside You. and with an understanding of you-nature in relation to universe-nature, You will help our species the most my friend.
i'm sorry if this thread has not gone the way you intended it. but i do hope you will stick around to talk further, if your intention is to truly understand with greater clarity your experience of being born again as seen through the eyes of other humans who have gone through similar journeys, or are in said process.

actually, that's not quite what atheists are saying, generally. it would be better to phrase it: "there probably isn't a God(s) because there is no evidence so far for one." there is a key difference between the two. i can explain if you like.
and those that ask, "Could there really be a God."
that wasn't a question. but even as such, the tone that this exact question takes is key to understanding what camp the questioner is from. an atheist could ask this question just as easily as a theist could.

Until that day comes, we might want to admit that we don't know everything.
and indeed, perhaps until it does come, it would be wise of you not to presume with your comments that we were created. you see? the same logic applies to you. if you want to get into probability at this point, i should warn you that technically, according to parsimony, it's a losing debate for people who say we, or the universe, was designed.
