Where would we be now if there was never a concept of God?

if (for the sake of argument for those who believe in god) there was no god, and no human being who ever lived had ever come up with or even had a concept of god or a higher being.

where do you think we as human beings would be today.

what do you think our history would be like, and our future?

humans are pattern seekers.

to wonder what our world would have been like without the god myth, would be to wonder what it would have been like with no stories or myths at all. we would be completely different animals i'd say.

god is a direct result of how we are wired. to find pattern and explain it, with stories. and God is found in all cultures because we are similar. Jung's Collective Unconscious explains this phenomena well, imo.

i think if we meet other intelliegent life forms, we will be surprised at how differently we think. mammals have a pretty unique chemical history. we may be pretty unique with the God concept too. some other life forms might not even think in terms of symbols. and this is what god is (imho of course!). a symbol for the patterns.

i can't even imagine what our ~~world~~ cosmos would be like.

one thing many jw's could do was quote jesus, although whether or not they lived up to the so-called 'christian ideal' is questioned by most of us.

conversely, many others who call themselves christians are much nicer people!

they love, they are generous, charitable and willing to give - but they are unlikely to be as familiar as we are with the details of jesus life and ministry as recorded in the bible.. i don't have a problem with that, it's what people do that matters!.

of course not. i only challenge people that i think are up to the task. some days i let challenges go unsaid because i am lazy. and other days i say them because i think they need to be voiced.

i like your style, and a lot of the thoughts you put together on this board.

and you have every right to challenge me, and also believe whatever you like. don't worry about it! it's cool. :)

in relation to the myth he is a part of, yes. and good for "him".

in relation to the history of the world as modern humans are aware of it, no. i highly doubt he even existed. i mean, do you think you are related to him genetically?

and the fruit? probably a banana.

i would say that jesus, as the person christians believe he is/was, has been irrelevant since the first moment that someone liberated themselves from him. since someone said, "no, the things you said are not divine."

you see, jesus is not the vehicle of christianity. he is a result of it.

if christianity cannot evolve fast enough, culturally/technically, then it in itself becomes obsolete because of the very nature of what it proposses to be: the omnimax divine. if christianity (and jesus by extension) was truly omnimax divine, i would not be here saying that jesus is irrelevant.

when *any* anima machina rejects this concept of christian "free will" and "pity" as self defeating, she has immediately nullified the omnimax divine proclamation of christianity. not to say that christianity ceases to exist. it may still for centuries to come. but she has transcended that of even its highest so-called "virtue".

as far as christians are concerned; the fact that they even still worship him as divine omnimax shows that he is irrelevant imo. if he had done his supposed job with the integrety that his followers said he did it, there would be no more followers of christ-ianity.

the standard reply to the above is: "well, tetra, how can you suppose to even know the greatness and glory of jesus the christ?"

and my only reply would be, "well, it takes one to know one. and he was nothing special as i am nothing special. he was special as i am special."

sacrilegious? if it is, then my only question is: WHY?

how i used to hate sundays, especially if they were sunny. what a robbery of my true slack nature!

slack shall be the theological aparatus, and sunniness and sin-niness shall merge into a one day week: everyday a sinday, every day a sunday.

leo greenlees governing body member leo k. greenlees was forced to resign and leave bethel in late 1984. he entered the toronto, canada bethel in 1936, eventually becoming treasurer of the canadian branch and of the ibsa of canada.

in 1964 he went to brooklyn bethel, and in 1965 was elected as a director of the society's new york corporation.

as a director greenlees automatically became a "governing body" member when that body was formally instituted in 1971. he often spoke at gilead graduations, and was the concluding speaker for the day at the watchtower centennial business meeting at three rivers stadium in pittsburgh, pennsylvania on october 6, 1984. a 1982 watchtower mentions him as being on the teaching committee of the governing body.

What is Truth?

we should learn to love and value truth for its own sake; to respect and honor it by owning and acknowledging it wherever we find it and by whomsoever presented.
