Has anyone ever played with a ouija board?
by delilah inthis past weekend, we met a new couple in our campground, and the conversation soon came 'round to the supernatural.
the lady said she has had quite a few supernatural experiences, and that she plays her own home-made version of the ouija board.
my husband was all excited and begged her to play .

of course the WTS is ***Christian***....
"christians" shouldn't be so offended by that when they should be striving to be Christ, not just "Christian".
christians saying that other christians are not really christian, is so typically christian. thanks alot Irenaeus!

Whether one believes in it or not, a piece that moves by itself is definitely supernatural, and not anything that we humans can do.
wow. what an extraordinary claim. i have never heard or read of such claims verified. have you? i certainly don't believe every experience i hear.
if there is something that is supernaturally verifiable, then those people should go and collect james randi's million dollar reward for demonstrating anything "supernatural".

Non-Religionists- Why All the Peace, Love, and Understanding?
by nvrgnbk inwhy has your disavowing organized, if not all, religion made you so open and happy and tolerant?.
aren't you concerned about what effect this may have on you and your loved ones?

why didn't you discuss why her husband did not "believe"? what did he say?
i have experiemented with ouija boards, and detailed it several times on JWD. basically, i tried it for the first time ever and it worked the way people say it is supposed to work. then, when i heard that houdini himself had shown the boards to be hoaxes, i read up on it (gasp!). then i tried again. this time i was blindfolded and i asked my friend to write a word down on a peice of paper and place it face up right behind me on the floor, so the "spirit" could spell it out for me. i asked the "spirit" to do this: silence. next, still blindfolded, i asked the spirit a direct yes or no question. the pointer started moving, but my friend had switched the board from upside-right to upside-down. the pointer went to what should have been "yes", but was actually a blank corner of the board.
afterwards, i thought: "DUH!" ouija boards are either asked "yes/no/" questions, or questions that the user generally has a good knowledge of, if not full knowedge (most of the time).
plus, it's a documented phenomenon by psychologists: ideomotor effect. http://www.skepdic.com/ideomotor.html
personally, i encourage anyone who is interested in knowing about this to test it out for themselves. don't just stop at playing with it... TEST IT! and don't worry, there are no demunz. ouija boards are excellent examples of how people:
- have no idea what their brains are doing behind the scenes.
- jump to unparsimonious conclusions about phenomena.
- feed off each other's curious credulity.
- don't want to go home and say: "ya, we played with a ouija board, but it didn't tell me anything new."

Non-Religionists- Why All the Peace, Love, and Understanding?
it's a realization.
no literal God is going to come make it all better.
turning inward to one's Self, and discovering God there, germinates benevolent compassion for all living things (not just humans).
and from inner peace, comes outer peace. peace with one's self, others, physics, genetics, cosmology, mythology, ideas... if you want planetary peace, you must become peace, individually, regardless of what others are becoming/being around you.

ps: i have met loving, liberated and compassionate people in both camps (and all the little one man camps dotted between the two).

hey lola, long time!
hate. i could use that word if it were in connection with something that caused me gut-wrenching disgust. so, yes, i could say that i hate the international financial system and the all permeating vibe of consumerism it pumps through the air of this entire planet.

Are we in love with our own pain?
by nvrgnbk ini've been doing alot of introspection lately, and i've been wondering this about myself.. what has been your experience?.
do we carry our pain around for so long that it becomes a companion, a part of our self-identity?.
though we know it will benefit us to let it go, do we hold on to it, not wanting to lose an old friend, an integral part of ourselves?.

ltns scully! wow, i missed that thread...
so, do you still think they are like wits? i see them more like monastic ninjas who had to have no attachments in order to perform in the way they did. extreme concentration is required. almost a faith in themselves in the moment. attachments weigh. i mean, not anyone who wanted to recite an oath could be a jedi, unlike the wits.
if a JW had the courage to say to himself: "today i will search for the roots of the fear i experience regardless of what i learn." - he'd be on a path from getting out of pain, according to yoda.
Jedi Testify! LOL,
