ok, it?s taken me longer to get my thoughts together on this than i expected, but here is the reason that i have come to have doubts in the divine nature of the bible; its failure to show that the god it describes is abiding by "his" own standards.. for example, according to 2 peter 1:20, the entire bible is inspired of god.

the main attributes of "god" are that "he" is love (1 john 4:8), "he" is just (deuteronomy 32:4), and "he" has all of the power (revelation 7:12).. with that in mind, my first problem with the bibles authenticity is that this ?loving god?

murdered the entire world of men at one point in history by drowning them.

Tone of the current literature

i haven't started a thread in some time but this is something that has got me thinking.

i want to know if i'm off-base here or if others have noticed this too.is.. over the last several months (perhaps 6-9) i feel that the tone of the wts and kms have been very strong.

not strong in the sense of legalistic do's and don'ts but strong in the sense of do more!!!!

hi everyone.... i was "raised" as a dub and got baptised in '86...so in total i had been a jw for over 20 years.

i came to realize that the "way of life" i was living was in fact made up of mostly lies.

i started "questioning" the borg about 6 years ago and finally came out with almostatheist last sept. i know in my heart that they are mostly wrong and very legalist.

"Men make gods of wood and stone, but the true god they've not known." Men make gods. Too many of the traits of God are like man's. The cynical side of me says that some real shrewd men, in order to protect themselves, their families, and their posessions, created the concept of a God. With that came the "laws and rules" that have evolved to what we have today. Every day other "shrewd" men try to put their twist on these "laws and rules" so that they can control their surroundings, and their fellow man. The hopeful side of me wants to believe in a loving, generous creator. I find myself growing less and less patient. I want that creator to make things clear. To stop observing and set things straight. Not talking "Armageddon" here. Just something I can grab ahold of again. Forgive me for going on on this...Just haven't had anyone I can say these things to without putting them in an awkward or uncomfortable situation.

C.O. visit; They sound desperate.

my mother recently told me that the congregation was scolded by their district sales manager....errr circuit overseer for poor meeting attendance.

it seems that at times attendance would sink as low as 60%.

she didn't respond when i said that maybe there was something good on television that night.
