  Can a staunch Democrat be good friends with a staunch Republican?

  for those with strong political views, is it impossible to be really good friends with someone on the other side?

  my very best friends either tend to think like me on the political continuum or have no care whatsoever for politics.

  those with exceptionally strong leaning toward the other party tend to get mean and nasty in political discussions which invariably deteriorate hopes for a deeper friendship.. what has been your experience?.

  Yes it is possible to be good friends in this situation! The debate, challenge, emotions, etc., can all go into building a truly deep and valuable relationship. You just have to have the best interests of your friend at heart.

  you get annoyed when one of your threads peters out...or you make a comment on someone elses thread and it goes unacknowledged....but isnt it great when an old thread you'd forgotten about gets ressurected

  a while ago i had a discussion with a jw who swung the conversation around to "the blood issue"... .

  i asked him that as he "abstained from blood", does he therefore only eat "kosher meat".. his response was "what's does kosher mean" !.

  i explained, and he then told me that all meat nowadays was "kosher", and that the red juice that runs from a steak is infact "meat juice" and not blood, so it was okay to eat.. hmmmmmn.... .

  Going to Maui and looking for advice

  There's a great little french restaurant in Kihei, La Creperie. Intimate, and great food! Not too expensive. Also Cheeseburgers in Paradise in Lahaina. McKenna Beach in teh late afternoon!!
