Jehovah's Witnesses---A Religion That Does Nothing For Anyone
by minimus inthe reality is: jehovah's witnesses benefit no one but themselves!.
they don't contribute to society.
they refuse to get involved in local interests because that would constitute violating their neutrality.. if sexual abuse allegations are made amongst their members, unless two witnesses can attest to the molestation, they refuse to get the "superior authorities" involved.. they claim to be doing their neighbors a "life saving" work but the reality is that they simply are pests to their "householders".. they are a tax free "religion" and they do not pay taxes.. they are judgmental people and regard the "world" as "worldly" and in the "power of the wicked one".. and if the individual members do not conform to the organization's dictates, they might very well be "shunned" and regarded as "dead".. why anyone would want to be a jehovah's witness is beyond me..

People You've Met
by watson inborn and bred a jw, i never really developed many relationships outside the org.
with the exception of employees, virtually none.
i wonder what would have happened if i had tried to reach out to different "interesting" individuals that i ran into over the years.

It was kind of funny yesterday. I mentioned to a co worker that I was not coming in in the AM. He asked if I was going to church. I said that my wife was religious and I was supporting her. (We've got the "Special Talk" ya know). He asked what church we went to and I told him a "Bible Study Church.." That was all he needed.
The more I gain respect for people outside the org, the less I want them to know.

Crimes Committed by Jehovah's Witnesses...... and Catholics, and Baptists and......
by AllTimeJeff inplease allow me a small opinion, sparked by some drum bangers who are determined to expose and "bring down" the wtbts.
one way that this is done is by attaching a persons religion to a crime report.. for example, rapists who are jw's are frequently brought up here.
child molesters and pedophiles.

One of the real regrets I have is not getting to know some obviously amazing people. The opportunity has passed for those, but I hope to make up for lost time. Some of those are just people you see in a coffee shop, maybe waiting in line, siminar attendees, people in the same business or industry, friends of friends. All the people that would have found out I was a JW, and probably lost interest. There's a lot of strings attached when you "get to know a JW."

Now that I am inactive, I find many people that I would like to know more, but still shy away from getting to know them because of my past. Having to explain being a member of a doomsday cult before moving on to more interesting things seems intimidating to me...What a weinie.
How do you tell people about your past?

by minimus ini thought about that question myself and i don't think i really hate anyone.
i guess i could hate bin laden or some nameless evil terrorist but no one comes to mind..

I'm surprised no one has mentioned George Bush II.....
I don't hate anyone. My blood pressure rises when I have to think of a few, but that's about it. As others have said, it's a waste of positive energy.

The longest prayer you had ever endured.
by african GB Member infrom personal experience i know it usually happens at the end of a district convention.
it would be either the do, co or an experienced elder.. they usually go through everything that was said throughout the dc and thank jehovah for this and that...... last year i used my stop watch to record the time taken by our do,.
by the time he said amen!

LMAO. Great stories, really strike a chord. I was fortunate to be there for a few of Frederick's prayers. Probably sitting near Blondie at the Rosebowl.
I am wondering if Sir 82's COBE has a learning disability.
