Where To By Crisis of Conscience
by binadub inmaybe this information has surfaced here before, but if so it is worth repeating periodically:.
a couple weeks ago i was shocked after doing a google search for crisis of conscience when it brought up amazon with four distributors selling the book in soft-cover for collector prices between $169.95 us to over $650, with only 4 copies available.
hard cover was not available new, and used copies were being sold for over $50-75.

Apostasy my ass!
by Glander inlet's call it what it is - disagreeing with the watchtower bible and tract society after baptism into the cult.
in no way is the literal definition of the word "apostasy" applicable to what the cult is using the word for.
it is a buzz word that scares the crap out of the rank and file and keeps them from communicating with those who have become enlightened about the cults lies.. we here on jwn have accepted the wt label, "apostates", with a sense of humor, such as calling our get togethers apostafests, etc.. but we are actually the "enlightened"..

As taught by the "Organization", Jehovah is very concerned about his reputation so he want's to make sure that over thousands of years, and human suffering, his son Satan will be proved a liar. Eventually, when he feels it's been proven, he will be able to step in and finally DESTROY all those that do not accept his godship. Fortunately, he has a time set, so it won't be long.

Eschatology of Jehovah's Witnesses - wikipedia
by Band on the Run ini read this article last night.
it was confusing.
the parade of dates long before i was born 1790, 1876, 1914, a whole profusio of them with backtracking and sorry excuses was mind boggling, even for one raised a witness.

"Dropping In" at the local coffee shop on Saturday mornings
by Cinciguy74 ini have to admit, i have made it a bit of a habit in the last few weeks to find myself in the local starbucks right about the time that i know the service groups will be stopping for a "quick" break, which usually goes on for about 30 minutes.. as i am not da or df, i make a note to say good morning to them and show them how nice and relaxed i am sitting, slowly enjoying my coffee.
i even make a point to invite them to sit down with me, knowing that it will eat up a bit more of their time.
never a "theocratic" discussion, only about local happenings usually, talking about workouts (i am normally in gym clothes since i was either at the gym or going to the gym after coffee), or just discussing plans for the weekend.

They probably won't have a theocratic discussion with you.

How long do you want to live?
by jean-luc picard inso the oldest man in the world, a japanese, has just celebrated his 115 birthday.. i was reading the other day that life expectancy in my country is around 78.2 today,.
that half the people born since 2000 are expected to see 100 years old, and that.
the first person that will live to 150 years old, is already alive.. so how long would you like to live?.

I'd like to outlive my parents so they don't have to see me die. After all, I was never supposed to graduate high school...

No answer to this one!
by truthseeker1969 inas many of you know my brother an elder was called on to sit in a "judicial committee" re-instatement.. the brother has in the past done all he can to prove he is repentant but this time the co was here and apparently had a few things to say to the cobe when they were discussing the process.
the co asked why the poor guy had four re-instatement hearings and why the co had received a letter from him detailing that he "did not think he could do anymore".. anyway, long story short, the co sat in the hearing and hey presto the brother was re-instated.
my brother and the co spoke with the brother and the co said that he had done well and was sorry that the process has taken so long and shook his hand.. now he mentioned the latest letter about confidentiality and said that the society is being hit left right and center with civil lawsuits and are scared as the have no way of defending them.

I think a lot of us have felt for some time that one of the next big changes would be to discontinue reporting field service time. Might be a simple way to minimize some of the legal issues facing the leadership.
