by tall penguin inback in may i went to a nightclub and ended up seeing one my best jw friends, a friend who refused to say goodbye when i was in the process of disassociating because he was so upset with me.
we'd known each other since we were kids.
our moms were close.

Fluff poll: Who else hates Will Farrell?

hate is a strong word to use, and i guess i don't hate the guy, i just find him so bloody annoying.

Quick Q re: "This Generation"

i spoke to my jw mum about the new watchtower study magazine and how in the first issue there is a change in "light" regarding the anointed.. she was floored and totally accepted that if they started to accept new anointed ones (non-replacements) that it *could* indicate that the society are extending the time once again regarding the coming of armageddon.
the idea is that if they accept new anointed ones, then they could be fairly young, hence they could still be around for a lot more years!.

previous understanding was this...the folk around to witness world war 1 - start of the end - would still be around to see the end of the end.this was applied along with the biblical lifespan of 70-80 years to mean that the end had to come sometime last century (1994 at the latest) which it didn't.(initially it was said you had to be old enough to be able to understand what was happening in 1914 to qualify - meaning about 13/14 and thus 1975 was the average year for end to come - but this also got ammended as time went by)
so the whole meaning of the word generation got revised.
the current understanding of generation applying to people rather than dates could be explained this way.....if you speak about world war 2 say, then you refer to it as happening to your mothers generation (assuming dawn your ma is similar ages with mine-but if not you get the point)..you weren't alive so it wasn't your generation...so when the end - armageddon - comes? then it will be said to happen during the generation of the people alive when it happens. thus millions of years in the future perfect people will look at armageddon survivors and say they were part of the generation that was alive to see the end of the world. this serves to take away any attempt to narrow it down to a date.
now it is being further revised - possibly because there is no time span attached to it therefore taking away any urgency. now evidently it applies to the anointed. this will make most jws think well it must be soon then because most of the anointed will not last much longer..however the ammended understanding of the completion of the 144000 (whether or not this is still a literal number) and the fact that younger and younger men are being made members of the gb means that time wise it could go on indefinately.
most jws will not make that connection.

i read a book a while back about dreams called, gestalt therapy verbatim , by frederick perls, a well known psychologist .
his take on dreams, without getting too deep, was we dream about unfinished situations in our lives which are troubling us still .

anyway i remember last nights..
last night i dreamt of misanthropic - we met and fell in love - i kid you not.. don't know if we lived happy ever after cos i woke up dammit.

triplestrength...that is indeed the tony boyland of which i speak.
wasn't aware he was originally from london but when he came to scotland - coatbridge - he had gone from cornwall to bethel construction and then up to us.
he did try several jobs when he was there - even window cleaning - but he really wanted to get to gilead before it was too late but that didnt happen.
i heard recently that his brother was df-ed...and my initial reaction was 'well i hope he was repentant and his judicial commitee thought they knew better than jehovah too' - but unfortunately that wouldn't help his cause and would only help me if i could actually say it to tony's face so i stopped thinking that way ( as you can see haha)
last i knew he was learning russian.
tony was the chairman of my commitee - you can read about stuff in my topic history - and famously told me when i went to him pleading for help cos i was suicidal 'well other people seem to manage'
there are occasions when i think that if there is a god of justice then he will someday require an explanation of that...but for the most part i simply don't care
