most disturbing movie scene you've seen?
by knock knock ini haven't seen this topic on here so i thought i'd.... hmmm, maybe it's because it's just too disturbing?
to me, the scene in saving private ryan - the two soldiers in the small upstairs room fighting hand to hand to the death (by stabbing).
i think that is the most disturbing thing i've seen on screen and there were plenty just in that film alone.

In American History X when Ed Norton stomps on the back of the guy's head whom he forced to put his mouth on the curb
yeah that got me too..
also there is a scene in The Killing Fields where a guy gets shot in the head at point blank range that is completely unexpected.i remember being quite disturbed at the time

(Attn Girls) What color should I color my hair?
by reneeisorym ini'm really ready for a change.
my hair has been the same for two years now and i just want something different.
i would do it pink or whatever but i have an appointment with my hair cutter person (1 mile from my house) -- not my crazy color person (who is two hours away) .... this one has colored my hair twice and does a great job but she is just not one to do crazy off the wall things.

I must admit, I find crop circles to be strangely fascinating, I can't help myself.
yeah me too
i find it unbelievable that 2 drunks with a plank and some rope could come up with such intricate and detailed designs. i am sure there are plenty of hoaxers out there but whoever did them deserves some credit as an artist imo.
with regard to their prophetic value i'm sure there is as much 'evidence' as the prophecies of nostradamus or the wt so i am certain nov 21 will pass without incident.
(nov 21 would have been my 26th wedding anniversary btw)

Wings of Desire
by monophonic insomeone just spoke of angels in another discussion and it reminded me of the film "wings of desire" by wim wenders..
i remember when i came out in the late 80's and how people were saying what a horrible film it was b/c it was about angels wanting to be human and then they'd quote, what, was it noah's day.
(the former things are passing away from my mind, yay!

this movie had one of my favourite u2 songs in the soundtrack - faraway so close
and it was remade with meg ryan and nicolas cage as city of angels - which has my favourite alanis morrisette song - uninvited - in the soundtrack as well as peter gabriel - i grieve, u2 - if god will send his angels, goo goo dolls - iris and sarah mclachlin - angel.
rubbish movies though
just kidding - i havent seen either of them although i think maybe i should

Lying is okay
by Hiddenwindow inthere are several doctrinal explications in the wt literature about which the average jw is not aware.
one that has always puzzled me is the definition that the insight book gives to lying.
it explains that lying does not mean to provide false information, but that it means to give wrong information to whoever has the right to know.

the interesting thing about the wt definition is that lying is ok to protect others but not to save oneself...examples used include rahab lying about the spies...abraham lying about sarah being his wife etc.
when peter lied then he was condemned - albeit for about a month. and when david covered up he was given a right stern telling-off.
so the gb will argue that the cautious as serpents stance is the best one re the un situ...and obfuscation is the best policy re blood, child abuse, doctrinal change etc cause it would not be in the best interests of the r & f to know the truth. and in this they are absolutely correct.
but it doesn't make them right
