Yes, we go when we WANT to, usually a couple of times per month and we all enjoy it, kids included.

Beautiful! You have a real talent for cake decorating!
And I noticed your comment on King Arthur- they are a great resource and are extremely high quality- worth the extra price for sure! Of course, I'm a bit prejudiced given that I grew up near their retail store and had ready access to develop a continued addiction to their products.
My 4 year old is looking over my shoulder and told me he wants that cake for his next birthday party because it looks so yummy.

Why did you get married?
by pratt1 inas a young dub in the 80's me along with many of my friends got married, either in our teens or early 20's.. in my area, if you were over 25 and not married, it was percieved that something was wrong with you or you were probably engaging in sex with a "worldly" person.. by why did so many of us feel the need to get married so young?.
i believe it was because of one of three reasons.. 1. you wanted to get out of your parets home.. 2. you had already gone "too far" with you girlfriend or boyfriend.. 3. you were just an average normal teenager and you knew this was the only way you could legally have sex.. .
was this true in your area?.

The first time? Because I was 18 and STUPID. He was my first boyfriend, we had "dated" since I was 14, I didn't want to keep living with my parents(not because they were difficult, but because I wanted to be on my own), I didn't want to pioneer and thought I'd be pressured too much if I was single, I thought I had found my "prince" (turned out to be a slimy toad) and I thought I was in love (hah) It was 9 years of emotional abuse. Oh, and the sex thing probably figured in there too. I had plenty of doubts before the deed was done, but was too young to put those into words and action. Plus, we had battled half the congregation over our right to a relationship, been treated like we were df'd by the people who disagreed with my parents allowing us to have a relationship before I was 18 and it was a pride thing- to let them see that they hadn't won and we got married despite all their efforts to stop us.
The second time? Because I found a person I could share my life with, who loves me for who I am-the good and the bad, and who I feel the same way about, and I could not be happier. Through ups and downs, life is good, and that is what it is all about.

Catholics on Big Love
by undercover inandre's thread on jws vs catholics reminded me for some reason of last night's episode of big love.. did anyone else relate to nikki's response to her son playing with a cross?
it was as if she was possessed by a jw demon or sumthin.
and her whole attitude toward the catholic faith reminded me of how jws react.

sandy, yes I know - I just have to add it to my netflix list.
The dynamic between the wives is very interesting. I am curious to see what Margene does in regards to the waitress.

I cracked up when I saw Nikki's knee-jerk reaction to the rosary. It was so a flashback to witness thinking! I just got into the show this season and am loving it.

Any Suggestions for Curbing Kids' Internet Access?
by Scully inwhat kind of measures do other parents take to help kids navigate the internet safely?.
i hate msn and other iming programs - there's far too much potential for mischief with that service available.. are there some easy ways to block sites or isps?
or is it better to set it up with approved sites only?.

I know that our internet provider provides parental controls with their software. For instance, my son is 11. His email account is set up so that we have to approve who he emails to, who is added to his address book and who he can receive emails from. It also emails us once per week information on the sites that he visits.
We also have him earn computer time. And the computer with internet access is in public family area. He is not allowed to have one in his room, at this point. And when he does have one in his room, it won't have internet access.
