"The thing is, the whole argument is based on a faulty premise. Sure, Christmas has nothing to do with the Bible. Who cares? Summer vacation has nothing to do with the Bible either, and yet you don't see any glum faces when June rolls around. Wedding ceremonies, anniversaries, wedding rings - none of that stuff has anything to do with the Bible. So the idea that "if it isn't in the Bible, we shouldn't be doing it" is totally bunk."
Actulally there is a difference between celebrating Easter, Christmas, Halloween, etc. than say Summer vacation, wedding ceremonies, anniversaries, wedding rings etc. The obvious differance is that the Easter, Christmas, Halloween holidays etc. are making a false pretence that they are ok practices for a professed Christan. Yeah, cause Easter is really about Christ's reserection! (Tell that to the Easter Bunny!) Oh and Christmas is really about Jesus' birth! (Santa Who?) And oh, Halloween it just fun and games let's all dress up like demons! (Need I say more!) What Fun!
The summer vacation is a pretty lame comparision! First of all some schools are year round and have different months off throughout the year. And it doesnt pretend to be a religion observance. Wedding ceremonies, anniversaries, wedding rings, are done differently depending on what country your from. Obviously they are not national holidays professing one thing and CLEARLY doing another.
