Cosmos - Carl Sagan
The Dune series - Frank Herbert
A Brief History of Time - Stephen Hawking
Crisis of Conscience - Ray Franz
i am not much of a reader as i have two many distractions, but i fancy a challenging read, so please list any book that has changed your entire world view on everything.
i remember as a teenager buying at a yard sale, norman vincent peales " the power of positive thinking" and at the time that had a big impact on me.
but i am a little bit more in to " realistic positive thinking" now..

it's claimed it takes 400 million atoms to become a single strand of dna.
how do the atoms know.
3. what order.
Well yeah.
You can lead a troll to a bridge but you can't make him/her hide.
lol

what's an atom?
fusion with god natural .
in the cosmos universe or whatever.
all things are made of the same materials etc so humans will always be fused with the universe in life and death because those building blocks are eternal.

Nice edit on post 129 and subsequent save of face on 130

the more i learn about jw's the harder it is.
to sleep at night.
the wife hit the pillow and within 5 min.. she is snoring.
Sometimes you can't help but focus on stuff that irks you. 'Tis only natural.
But the mind is a tool and is in your hands. You "own" it, not vice versa and it can be trained to not run rampant with stuff. As has been mentioned, there are tips and tricks.
One thing that works for me when I can't get to sleep is to think of things done that I enjoyed, or things I'd like to do.
so the rc really sucked, but i made it through.
the propaganda was mind blowing.
i don't know if the crap will be available on the official website or not, but hopefully it gets leaked somehow.
I don't think there are any evil geniuses at WTS HQ, more like zombie Colonel Klink style self righteous buffoons peddling their brand of jesus in the street. Propaganda, yes. Diabolical, no. Niche self interest group with a media dept.
Kudos to you for being a man that provides and cares for his family
Don't quit
Being in control doesn't mean taking the easy way out. Quite the opposite methinks.
You don't want the elders to treat you like shit in front of your loved ones. You would regret that.
Try not to ignore emotional outbursts or react in kind. Such are cries for help as well.
Focus on something is necessary. Keep sight of the shore or horizon. Work does the trick and provides for needs and goals, careful it doesn't create further distance you can't come back from.
You do have the answers, just haven't found them but they're close.
You can help others, but it's not your fault if they don't take your hand. They have their choices, you have yours.
I admire your dedication to family, your strength and your honesty. I could not do what you do.
Everyone has their limits and it's necessary to find out where they are. They also provide answers.
Good luck to you sir.
the unknown writer of the gospel of john put the following words in jesus' mouth, "blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.".
persuading countless generations that it is a virtue to believe incredible things on insufficient evidence, is one of religion's cleverest tricks.. the more incredible the claim; the more flimsy the evidence; the stronger the belief; the greater the virtue.. this is the exact opposite of how we operate in every other aspect of our lives.. rational people must demand objective evidence for everything they are asked to believe.
"extraordinary claims demand extraordinary evidence".. leaving the dogmatic claims of the watchtower is only a first step.
I can honesty say, with confidence, that I have found zero evidences of the possible existence of myself. It appears that I exist, but if I claim that I know that I exist, that would be very arrogant of me, because so far, my so called "evidences" of my existence, are based on what I believe is true. If the truth is beyond what I believe, then I may have a problem, if I exist.
May the Tao be with you, always ;)

Is faith a virtue? Is atheism?
I think what a person does and how they treat others is what really matters. Especially when there's disagreement. How else do you measure tolerance, understanding and what may really be considered virtues?
i've always wondered that.
recently i asked that question on another thread and didn't really get ananswer.
cofty made an excellent point that we often hear what it isn't, but that really isn't useful.. so, what is it?
Safe to say then that spirit doesn't exist?
