Asshole Atheism – Not for me, now or ever.
by donny into start off with let me clarify that by asshole atheism i am not referring to strong atheism or any other type of upfront atheism.
what i am referring to is the belligerent, hateful atheism that smacks of trolls and other types who want to derail conversation or comments at any cost..
i enjoy hearing comments from both sides of the subjects of theism, nationalism or politics, especially from those who have intense opinions.

Well said donny; I totally agree that such attitudes are self serving and narrow minded. Sad in a sense -

Twitch, take it easy, Bro!
Tell us who you're directing the pointy end of the stick toward.
I must say the original topic has engendered some wacky, waving, inflatable, arm-waving tubeman contortions!Terry,
No worries, sir. I found it rather funny that those who also choose to argue the topic are pointing fingers and/or sticks, a "it takes two to tango" observation seemingly lost on all parties that usually ends with hate speech about other's beliefs. It certainly wasn't such approaches or attitudes that changed my worldviews, way back when. But perhaps I'm wrong in assuming that is the idea here. Whatever floats yer boat, as it were.
A good OP video btw

This is the most utterly ridiculous argument about the most nonsensical thing ever. You could be helping other people and making the world a better place instead of arguing about a middle eastern death cult.
How ironic

Please vaccinate your children
by Viviane inand remember your boosters as adults!.
currently there is a measles outbreak in the u.s. the outbreak is clustered into communities where parents choose not to get their children vaccinated.
vaccination works primarily on herd immunity.

How do Americans feel about Canadians and Britons interjecting their opinions onto hot localized political topics: gun laws, abortion, ect?
by adjusted knowledge inin addition to the above question, why do citizens of the two above mentioned countries, or other countries, feel the necessity to tell americans how they should interpret the american constitution for localized issues?.
i fairly much have an idea what the general population in the usa feels in regards to the first question.
this could be one of the possible reasons cnn piers morgan poor ratings and eventual firing.

Why do citizens of the two above mentioned countries, or other countries, feel the necessity to tell Americans how they should interpret the American Constitution for localized issues?
I think it fair to say that the minority of the most vocal critics do not always represent a majority of citizens.
Also, it really ain't my business and I'd usually take the track of "tend to your own garden"
However, as has been said, the US does have a large influence in many ways, so with respect to certain topics and issues, I think it fair game to voice an opposing opinion, should I have one.

USING CONTEXT to understand 'supernatural' Jesus
by TerryWalstrom into 27 b.c.e.. in the years of roman republic, no man was called a god (or even a king).
however, 200 years of peace under a ruler imperator, (emperor) gradually relaxed the fears of romans of having a dictator.
surely the gods had bestowed unusual approval!

What Simon said
Thank you sir, for not being a mother but rather a referee in the arena of what should be civilized and considerate discussion. The constant off topic bickering and insults are tiresome, boring and counter productive IMO

Science still doesn't have the answers on how life first appeared
by EndofMysteries insince so many athiests in this thread, and since i'm going to college, i was curious if what i would learn in biology would change my thoughts and show that life clearly and easily spontaneously happened.
just looking up the origins of dna or rna there is nothing conclusive.
for example, scientists today are able to manipulate life.

What if "IT" was all just a dream?
by titch ini'm not really sure as to what category that i should put this into, so i'll just try, and put it here.
this is based upon a posting that i saw and read on facebook recently.
and, the question is: what if life---as you know it---was just one big dream?

Twitch
Yes, what is it, to be?
Who or rather, what are you?
The most fundamental question one has to answer, really.
Who would want the random and irrational existence that is a dream?
Were I a butterfly who dreamt I was a man, methinks it better to be a butterfly
Regardless, you won't find the answer of an afterlife until you're dead
So as has been said, carpe diem

Be nice to theists - they are victims of their genes
by cofty inidentical twin studies show there is a strong inheritable component to religiosity.
thomas bouchard studied identical and fraternal twins raised apart and tested them on religious attitudes.. the correlation for the former turned out to be 62% compared to just 2% for the latter.

Interesting viewpoint considering the thread title
