I have the original hard copy WT and no change was made. Uncle Bruce is in error. Of course we know that the WT is capable of making such a change, but not this time.

unclebruce made a posting in this thread http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/7/109480/1.ashx in which he made the following quotes from the reasoning book and the watchtower concerning the obsolete teaching of the separation of the sheep and goats.
"the judgement and separation work by jesus was proof of his presence since 1914.
" reasoning from the scriptures 1989 p. 344. .

his faithful servants--only jws, not "so-called" christians.
7 a second point that we can draw from peter's words is that jehovah is patient because he desires all to attain to repentance.
"consider the patience of our lord as salvation," wrote peter to fellow christians.
I thought Blondie's mention of the WT's use of anonymous scholars was interesting. What are they hiding? One answer may be found in the 2-15-06 issue of the WT. In the article that starts on page 13 about the Muratorian Fragment they quote Dr. Geoffrey Mark Hahneman. A quick Google search revealed that the quote is accurate, but the whole of point of his book is to prove the opposite of what the WT article is trying to say about the significance of the Muratorian Fragment. I guess they better stick to anonymous sources after all.

i know that much has been said about the 3-15-06 wt study article on false religion, but i wanted to add my two cents because of the way that it affects my situation.. i realized a long time ago that this wasn't the "truth", but i only allowed myself to acknowledge this fact two years ago.
since then i have been trying to figure out what that realization meant for my faith in god and religion.
i have more answers now than i did two years ago, but my search for meaning and understanding continues and probably will for the rest of my life.
Hi James,
I appreciate your thoughts. My pastor (I feel so strange saying that) has been a big help to me in my transition and I have discussed my family situation with him on several occasions. To clarify a point, my wife knows that I go to a church. That is why I feel so strongly about the study article in the 3-15 issue of the WT. To say I don't believe that the Witnesses have the "truth" anymore is one thing to her, but to then go and attend another church is another thing altogether. That has been the hardest thing for her to cope with.
Thanks,
Lot

Since then I have been trying to figure out what that realization meant for my faith in God and religion. I have more answers now than I did two years ago, but my search for meaning and understanding continues and probably will for the rest of my life. I'm not trying to find something to replace the "truth" with; I'm just looking for some calmness within. This has not been an easy process since my wife still feels that Jehovah's Witnesses are the only true religion, but she is coming to grips with my situation and we are moving forward.
I recently joined a Presbyterian church, not because of the denomination itself, but because of the pastor. He takes a practical and rational approach to the Bible and to faith that speaks to my condition. I go every Sunday to the church and attend the meetings at the hall with my wife on the week nights. I know this will sound crazy to some, but I do this for my wife; it helps her as she tries to adjust. I also have many close friends at the hall that I still enjoy seeing. Of course, no one at the hall knows of my association with "Babylon the Great" and I hope they don't find out until my wife has had more time to adjust, but I take things as they come. That brings me to this study article.
I won't go into details about all of the misrepresentations as they have been covered by others. One that I will mention that really stinks is found in paragraph 11. It says in part that true Christians i.e. Jehovah's Witnesses avoid exposure to religious literature that promotes lies about God and his word. Where does that leave the Watchtower itself that has always, and still does, quote from Christendom's scholars when it wants to try and give some validity to some point being made? The hypocrisy is incredible.
What is so troubling to me is that when this article is considered at the end of April, my wife will be sitting there and will be crying her eyes out at the fact that her husband is like " the dog that has returned to its own vomit". She can't help but feel that I have turned my back on God and am destined for destruction. A very hard thing to feel when you love someone and think that they are going to be destroyed by God. Needless to say, I am already planning a trip for that weekend to spare her that. I know that she will, of course, have already read the article and that it doesn't say anything new, but for her the point is driven home when an article is studied at the meeting. She is a very emotional person and I love her very much.
I'm sorry for the rant and the venting, but I really needed to this time and I appreciate having a place to do so. This board has been a real encouragement to me for the last year and more.
Thanks again,
Lot

hey all, i usually pop into my folks once a week so that my son can see his grandparents.
anyway last week my dad asked if i wanted to go to a country show\fete with them on sat , so anyway a couple of days later i emailed my mum to see whether my fiance (non jw) could come too.. this is the email i received today.
as you are going to be busy over the next few weeks, we dont want to put added pressure on you, dont feel you have to come to the show.plus we have already explained the situation regarding mike we dont have anything against him personally, but the situation is difficult for us regards associating with him as your fiance because it would be viewed as our supporting your decision to marry out of the truth.
Es,
I'm sorry that you are having to go through this now when you have your wedding so close, but I can't agree with most of the posters when they tell you to just move on. Sure go ahead with your life the way you want to; there's nothing wrong with that, but try to keep the lines of communication open with your parents. Don't let religion ever come between you and your parents. They think they are doing what's in your best interest and that shows they love you. If they want to make religion the big issue, let it be on them, but for your part, be open to them.
Families being torn apart by the mind control techniques of Jehovah's Witnesses is one of the worst things this religion will have to answer for, and if it comes to that for you, don't let it happen because you cut them off. Let the burden rest with them. And don't think that because other families have been torn apart by the Witnesses that it has to happen to you. Every situation is different, so don't get discouraged.
Take care and good luck,
Lot

which countries still charge for the literature, and what are the rates in usd?.

Hi Carla,
Just for clarification on the "donation arrangement", there is no suggested donation amount. Whatever a householder donates is to be turned over to the Society. When you pick up your literature, you are under no obligation to donate then, though I noticed that several did put money into the box for the world wide work when they picked up there magazines etc. (I was the literature servant). Most follow the practice of donating once a month for the kingdom hall fund and the world wide work. According to the instructions of the Society, this is not related to any money that you receive in the field and you should not deduct what you have contributed from what you receive from householders. This was a big issue in our congregation when this change took place in 1990, so that is why I remember the specific instructions from the Society so well. Of course, there is no way to tell how many people follow these instructions to the letter. I would guess that a fair number do deduct what they contribute from what they receive in the field. It would be interesting to hear what others have done in this regard.

i was curious if anyone has any thoughts on why the two new members of the gb haven't beeen announced on the society's web site?
they were appointed on august 25 according to what i have read here, but no one in my congregation has said anyhting about it.
i know it is still a little early for it to be in the watchtower, but don't they usually post this kind of news at jw media?.
If I'm not mistaken, the web site has been used to announce new members of the GB as well as deaths of GB members in the past. I'm 99% sure of this although I can't remember for certain. Weren't the new members that were added a few years ago mentioned on jw media? And I think that Henschel's death was reported there as well.
Have any of you that still attend heard anything about these new members mentioned by other Witnesses?

Im new to the jw quotes site, but so far I like it very much. I have one question though. Is the site reliable? Are the quotes of older publications especially those of the different editions of Studies In The Scriptures accurate? Any input is appreciated.
Thanks,
