  it just blows my mind.

  i am an adult, and i can't go out without getting the third degree.

Anywhere else this type of behavior would be invasion of privacy, but because I'm a Dub, it's "keeping an eye on the flock."

  This IS an invasion of privacy. It is up to you to protect yourself. What the society is doing here is potentially dangerous as regards the mental health of it's members. This constant need to know every minute detail of your life can lead to stress induced anxiety, panic attacks and even paranoia. The last thing you need is to develop is a psychotic illness. (This happened to me) Your life is yours and no-one else's. Get out of this mind controlling cult, it's causing you distress. I hope you can do this. Remember, you have an outlet here to let off steam. Just my 2 pennies. Good luck with protecting your privacy.

  People from that island west of Europe: What do you call your country?

  i'm curious.

  do you call it the uk, england, or britain?

  i have the sneaking suspicion that these terms each mean something slightly different from one another, but i thought i'd see how the natives use them.

  Finally, Northern Ireland is technically part of the UK (Like Montserrat, the Falklands, etc) and not British... however, for all intents and purposes, they are Brits. Why this is I am not sure. Maybe someone from N.I can correct me if I'm wrong. Hope this helps!

  I was just thinking about this. Perhaps the reason is that sometimes the Island of Ireland and Britain are sometimes refered to collectively as "The British Isles" this would make N.I part of the British Isles and therefore Brits.

  LittleToe did a good job explaining everything. However, I realise it's a lot to take in all at once. To make it simple for you the situation at a very basic level is this:

  Scotland is a country

  England is a country

  Wales is a country

  Together, these 3 countries make another bigger country called Great Britain. This is the island in western Europe.

  You can only be English if you come from England. Scottish and Welsh people are not English.

  Scottish, English and Welsh people are all British.

  Great Britain plus Northern Ireland plus every other territory that remains of our dead empire (i.e Falkland Islands, etc) makes The United Kingdom. For example...if I was from the island of Montserrat in the Carribean...I would be part of the UK, but not British, Great Britain is the island in Europe remember.

  Finally, Northern Ireland is technically part of the UK (Like Montserrat, the Falklands, etc) and not British... however, for all intents and purposes, they are Brits. Why this is I am not sure. Maybe someone from N.I can correct me if I'm wrong. Hope this helps!

  Blood- would you/have you given/taken it?

  since leaving the jws and joining my current company i get asked every six months to give blood.

  i've never done it and still feel as if i had an accident i would be very reluctant to have a transfusion.. if its not too personal can i ask what others views are on this and your experiences if any?.

  it's an armageddonsite run by non-religious people, and it has an active board too.

  the watchtower is only briefly mentioned in the failed predictions section.

  How many Bible studies does it take before brainwashing sets in?

  i would like to know how the study starts...... what kind of information is given to the potential new convert when he / she starts studying with j.w.

  's., lesson to lesson.. what is taught in the first few "lessons".. when the brainwashing starts to be taught.

  how many lessons it takes to convince the student that the w.t.

  I was brainwashed before I even had a book study. They had placed the Live Forever book first, I was entraced after the first couple of chapters. Then they gave me the Creation/Evolution book which was effective in eroding my remaining faith in science. When the book study came my eyes were already glazed over...like taking candy from a baby. I never was very bright!
