it was announced recently that the elders in my area had met to discuss the plans of building 4 or 5 halls in the next 5 to 6 years. I leaned over to my mother, and said "looks like I've got time to go to college".

richie,
you made my day!
not only college -- possibly graduate school too :-)

I completely digested this nourishing 8 page meal from Jah in about 2 - 3 minutes. The sad part is that they will spend 2 - 3 HOURS rehashing it at the Service meeting in mind-numbing depth.
btw - anyone else catch the direct mention of the suggested 15 - 20% tip for restaurants. I'm surprised they didn't mention not to leave literature as a tip. (I thought they used to, since a large number surprisingly did). Anyhow, what better "informal witness" than a bunch of JWs with convention badges (which should be worn along with "convention attire" when dining out) stiffing the wait staff at a restaurant. Or better yet, leaving a few back issues of the WT / Awake.

Circuit Overseers Are On a Pledge Drive
by Severus injehovah's witnesses will be experiencing a special treat during their co (circuit overseer) visit this season: a bona-fide pledge drive.. during the thursday night meeting the normal co talk will instead be a video entitled:.
building kingdom halls advances true worship.
this 30-minute advances video is well produced and explains the watchtower society's program to build simplified kingdom halls in third-world and poor countries were materials and funds are scarce.. interviews and footage focus on south america, africa and eastern europe.

Actually, I've heard from those "in the know" that contributions from the poorer nations are actually higher than contributions from the richer ones. Counter-intuitive until you realize that most JWs in the richer counties are realtively poor. 3 generations of actively discouraging higher education have come home to roost.

by RunningMan inwell, i have once again put finger to keyboard and produced another article.
i have to say that i have never had as much fun with a subject as with this one.
you can really see the goofyness of religion under the demon microscope.

What did people know about conception 2000 years ago?
by Hellrider inthis is taken from a "new" scroll, discovered in the middle east in the 70s.
it is believed to be a dead sea scroll, or a scroll connected to the essenes.
it`s believed to be from the 1st century, and is referred to as "the angel scroll".

well, didn't Onan get in trouble for "spilling his seed on the ground" (pulling out) because he didn't want to father a child. So obviously whoever fabricated Genesis knew this basic part of where babies came from.

too funny ...

NEW YORK (CNN) -- New York workers have discovered a trove of Cold War-era supplies within the masonry of the Brooklyn Bridge, a cache meant to aid in survival efforts in the event ... Jehovah God brought an end to this wicked system of things.
okay, I WT-ed the quote; replace the contents after the ellipse with "of nuclear war." Of course, I'm sure this WAS NOT the Governing Body's bunker, since there was no miracle wheat or booze in the bunker. Curious for anyone "in the know", did /does Brooklyn have a bomb shelter for when the Big-A did start or did they "rely on jah for protection".

Thanks for the info about Madison. I was just curious, since I haven't seen any KHs in my travels around town.
Not interested in going to a KH in Madison, but Marshfield sounds kind of interesting! :-)
