Hi Richie,
Curious why you feel the need to DA? I've faded for over 7 years, and my mom still talks to me. The implicit "agreement" we have is that I never DA or DF. If I were in your shoes, I'd seriously consider simply fading away. When you fade, you can always say that "you need time to work through some things."
good luck,

IDEA regarding my mother.
by RichieRich inits richie again.. i was thinking last night about my inevitable, fast approaching exit from the wtbts.
i guess that out of common courtesy, i will provide a copy of my disassociation letter to my mother, however, it is nothing more than a baptism nullification / gag order / i'll sue all of you letter.
its not one of those lengthy numbers that some have chosen to write.

hey dune,
I was exactly in your situation 8 years ago. Actually recommended by the elders for MS at the congregation where I went to college (ripe old age of 19). CO nixed it, since I was automatically a bad example. This was 1997. Found H20, and was "completely faded" by end of 1998.
Smoothest way to trasition: faded my friend

What was "it" that opened your eyes?
by jiggulz inlike so many people, i'm (very carefully)trying to convey the obvious "truth" about the wtb&ts to some of the members of my family.
is there any key point that "stands out" in your memory as pivotal in the opening of your eyes?
or any particular point that may have opened the eyes of your loved ones?

Actually, it was finding out 1914 was not even the "original" year for the prophesied reign of the Heavenly Kingdom to begin. Go read the 1914 thread at the Quotes site for details. I remember actually crying when I saw that material for the first time (and I was a 21 year old guy). I've been agnostic ever since. Honestly, stopped believing in God, an afterlife, everything. Call Russell a kook, but to me, nailing 1914 as a "momentous year" back in the 1870's meant something. At least that was how they presented it. I hadn't had Psychology classes yet, and I now know this is a classic example of "selectivity bias". That to me was THE ONLY sign of divine inspiration the organization had. Arguably, that was the ONLY sign of divine inspiration I have every accepted. Then, to find out it was all a lie. That 1914 was "picked" AFTER the freaking war was OVER. After that, I completely renounced God. Amen.

Interesting Talk by the CO today
by bronzefist inthought i would share some notes i took from a talk the co gave at the hall i attended today for the last time.
the talk was entitled ?act wisely in a senseless world.. .
the gist of the talk was that we are being conned by everyone in this system of things.. no mention of anyone in the organization doing this.. ?are we willing victims??.

Dawkins Interview; Atheism, Agnosticism, Etc.
by AlanF inthe following was forwarded to me, and i post it in its entirety, with a few edits for clarity, without comment.. ------ ------ ------ ------ ------ .
many of my friends are well aware that i'm not the slightest bit religious.
with other friends the subject has never come up - and might never have - i'm not much of a proselytizer.
