Another lawsuit... this one in Oregon.
by Elsewhere incomplaint: negligence, breach of confidential relationship, intentional infliction of severe emotional distress.
once again the elders appointed a convicted and confessed child molester to a position of responsibility as an officer and ministerial servant of the congregation.
this time the accused name is jerry anderson crabb of the lancaster congregation of jehovah's witnesses - 4795 macleay road se, salem, or 97301. sadly, as one would expect, he has been accused of sexually abusing a child on multiple occasions.

by AndersonsInfo innapa wt child abuse case.
two important court decisions, which came out of napa valley, ca, are now available for us to post on jwd.
these significant rulings overturn objections regularly made by the watchtower in recent lawsuits and may serve as a precedent for future lawsuits.

Also: I wonder if there is going to be another corporate re-structuring in the near future. This might be the "big announcement" everyone keeps hinting at...

jourles,
thanks for the info. I remember hearing many times that "mother (aka WT) ultimately owns everything in the end" numerous times. Also, the WT usually hold the mortgages on the Halls, and provides insurance to the Halls as well. And charge the local congregations premiums -- to insure the buildings they ultimately own, regardless of whether there is a mortgage or not. I liked the wording the judge used: "payments that amount to insurance premiums, regardless of what the defendent calls them". ROTFLMAO.
Does that letter you quoted from reflect the new corporate structure inacted around that time (circa 2000)
Incidentally, for those that don't know: This wording was added after some congregation in TX en masse left the WT, and took the Kingdom Hall (which the congregation paid for) with them. -

"Go to your assignments, and die there"
by Nathan Natas infor the past week or so the above phrase has been bouncing around inside my head.. i think it is from a talk to a graduating class at gilead, but i cannot for the life of me nail down the source.. does this ring a bell for anyone?
do you recall when it was said, and by whom?

Disgusting comment regarding the baptism at the DC
by under_believer inat the service meeting the other day the "friends" were given an opportunity to discuss the district convention (portland, or, june 30-july 2).

I wonder if the "brothers" have a harder time with this.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
I think so, especially if you are marked as a future MS / elder. I never felt the pressure to get baptized, but did at 16 -- since I wanted to "rise in the org". That was my primary motivation -- I kid you not. To get promoted, you had to earn your strips as a publisher first.
I was recommended for MS at 18, despite being a freshman in college.
Looking back, I am so thankful the CO over-ruled them... three times. After that, I found a litle site called H20 (this was 1997...) -

Can you think of any WT books that aren't 192 pages?
by silentWatcher inso, the latest book at the convention was 224 pages, and not the typical 192 pages.
more manna from heaven :-) .
besides the greatest man book, can you think of any regular issue book (nwt, proclaimers books, bound volumes, etc not included) that was not 192 pages.

my dad was on the RBC for a short time in the 1990's. One of the actual committees itself for NY. big whoop. no one went regularly. and those that did were either 1)a bunch of brain-dead buddha bellies waddling around or 2) bunch of horny teenagers looking to meet sisters.
ugh.

The International Day of Peace
----------------------------------------------------
not likely -- the UN declared 1986 the International Year of Peace...
Everyone kept speculating that this was the cry of peace and security, but the WT never made a statement of record...
