  UN Library Card Excuse.

  a coupie of nights ago, i was sat watching an old video-clip of the village people singing "ymca"on tv.

  the thought occured to me that the wt most likely have a down on the ymca (they have a down on most things), so i searched ymca on my wt library cd.. well, that was interesting all right.

  however, one part of the article reminded me of brooklyns excuse for being party to the un as an ngo.

  Does anyone know somebody in WT writing department?

  i wonder what the profiles of these people are.

  the fact is that every sentence they write is taken by over 6 000 000 people almost as a word of god.

  (in fact most of us here, i would imagine, at one time or another felt the same).

  I have a relative that has been there since 1960. The last time I was there was in the mid 70s and at that time he was proof-reading. Absolutely no clue what he does nowadays as he is the one relative that I avoid whenever he is in town. I know he works in the writing dept, but thats it. The last I spoke to him was about 12yrs ago.

  Education....nope. He went there as soon as he turned 19. High school diploma is all. I know that he was friends with Freddie, Ray, Ed, etc... always telling stories....gag! He was a real a** kisser type. To be honest, I always thought he was an undercover gay.

  I was never impressed, but when he was in town everyone would flock to him like he was something special. It was always some sort of big event with everyone trying to rub elbows with him. I never understood it....I always thought he was a flake.

  Watchtower toilet paper

  whilst i was sitting upon my porcelin thinking chair today i had a flash(originally translated as "splash") of new light.

  why not get some wbts toilet paper printed.

  i checked around and getting it done is no problem.. you can have up to 16" x 3.5" repeated area.

  You can have up to 16" x 3.5" repeated area. This would be enough for several pics, quotes, illustrations.

  Single color and half tones for photos.

  what's the deal in the 'new system'?

  of course i wouldnt want to encourage speculation, but when i was involved in the jws there was sometimes talk of what would or wouldn't be in/acceptable in 'the new system'.

  i heard some happifying comments like there wont be any electric guitars or transport, and we wont be wearing clothes but we'll still have seasons

  Of coure, we wouldn't have to clean up dead bodies, dogs and birds will take care of those.

  You mean that I have to be a vegetarian while all of the birds and dogs have a smorgasboard of steaks? What a rip-off!!

  I'm tired of soy-burgers already.....I can't imagine having to eat them forever and ever.

  so, as you know, last weekend i provided some info to an elder relative of mine regarding 607. .

  i am going to give him a couple weeks to research everything i brought up to him.

  i don't expect him to fully accept what i said, but there is no doubt that there will be some questions in his head as to why things don't add up.

  Agreed, but New Light? doesn't justify lying about the old light. Clearly no Bible Student in the 1920s was preaching that Jesus returned in 1914. A 1990s Watchtower that says otherwise is lying. It's fine with me that in the past JWs believed something different, but it's not fine that they pretend otherwise. It's clearly a deliberate fabrication and if the elder in question is willing to be intellectually honest, he will recognise it as such.

  Exactly! It's the lies and misrepresentation that will get to them. In my opinion....my family wouldn't be as affected by the UN as much as they would be by finding that they were lied to about 1914. When you have family of the annointed, 1914 means a lot. I'm also not going to bring anything else up until the 607 discussion is finished. I won't let the conversation go off on some tangent. Focused and to the point. I won't argue doctrine either. Only facts. Doctrine will come later...once they see that something is wrong in watchtower land. My family have always been the calm, cool, and collected type. I have never seen a knee-jerk reaction out of any of them. I really believe that you can tell anybody anything. It's all in the timing and presentation. It might take 6 months or a year, or more. But, when the door gets opened, even just a crack, you have to be ready. Look for that weak spot and exploit the hell out of it. If they sense that you are angry, the door shuts. It has to be genuine concern from the heart. This might sound kind of dumb, but some wild animals don't go hunting for their prey. They lie in waiting.....waiting for that perfect moment when the defenses of the prey have been lowered. Then they POUNCE. Same thing here....kick back and wait....when the door is cracked......shove your foot in it. I can play Watchtower mind control games just as well as they can. I'm not worried about shunning either. They want to shun me fine....see ya. They tried that 15 years ago....didn't work.They caved in and contacted me. When they know you are upset about the shunning....they know it is working. I am very stubborn and not afraid of conflict. My family knows that if they ever attempted shunning me again....they will never, ever, ever see or hear from me again. After their last attempt to shun me, I refused to speak to them even after they stopped shunning. A little taste of their own medicine. My mother actually went to one of my "worldly" friends to see if they could help. I eventually made contact and things have been fine for the most part ever since. They promised that it would never happen again. The only reason that I have waited until now is that I had to make sure I knew what I was talking about. I had to have "all my ducks in a row" so to speak. It wasn't until now that I felt I was prepared enough. Too many people go into this half cocked and then blow it. You need to be prepared for any and every comment or response that they may give. I would take on the entire body of elders if they had the guts to sit down and argue with me.

  The next step is to build on that slightest bit of doubt by showing him some lies. I know what publications he has, so I will put some more doubt in his noggin with some of these quotes.

  ?Christ?s second advent was realized in 1914? he answered.
  In astonishment, I told him that was impossible. ?You should read this book,? he said, handing me The Harp of God. I was baptized the following year, March 23, 1929...

  Nope....didn't happen. Harp of god claims 1874 as the year of Christs return. It wasn't until 1930 that 1914 became the return. This could NOT have happened the way they say it did.

  For over thirty years before that date and for half a century since, Jehovah?s witnesses have pointed to the year 1914 as the time for the end of ?the appointed times of the nations? and the time in which Christ would begin his Kingdom rule. (Luke 21:24)

  Nope.....still using 1874 at this point.........30 yrs prior to 1914.

  He [a WTS colporteur of 1921] explained to me that Jesus had been present since 1914, invisible to man. This was the most thrilling news I had ever heard... In late 1921 I was transferred back to England, and in the spring of 1922, I was discharged from the army.

  I especially liked the idea of drawing a chalk outline on the driveway and scattering literature around it.
