today started off good, it's mother's day, i get breakfast in bed.
then i'm outside doing what i want to do, getting our trailer ready for camping season.. what i thought my hubby (xjw_b12) was doing in the meantime was wishing his mom a happy mother's day, but he came out of the house and was a little on the off side.
instead of what i thought was he was doing and calling his mom, he caught a call from his mom instead, advising us that his uncle passed away on friday, by taking his own life.
Sending you my heartfelt condolences.....it's such a tragedy, I really don't understand how they can call themselves "Christian" and behave in such a non-christian manner. Family is Family, no matter what. There is something wrong, when a "religion" causes rifts amongst families, especially at a time like this.

true story: i used to drive for long trips on the highway a lot.
three-hundred-and-fifty mile trips were not unusual, and night time driving was quite common.
one night i fell asleep at the wheel, travelling 55 miles per hour along winding mountainous roads.
My hubby, my father and my brother all drive truck, and every one of them has had similar experiences as yours. It's quite scary really, to fall asleep at the wheel. I definitely don't think the debbil had anything to do with it, but maybe a guardian angel???? along with the sound of an on-coming car's horn, as the hammer you described hitting you upside the head?? In any case, I'm glad you awoke and got into your own lane safely....

how many of us imagine winning the big one, and all our problems in life would be solved.
we could get whatever we wanted without worrying about money, could buy our way out of almost any situation (like the rich folks do), go on any vacation anywhere in the world, dress to the nines on a daily basis, and use our wealth to get others to do our bidding.. money = sex, power, influence, decadent luxury = happiness???.

isn't there a rap artist who sings "money can't buy me happiness, but i can buy what i want, get high when i want"? it would definitely be a good thing, .....i have a list as long as my arm filled with those who would benefit from my winning the big one. the other list, of those who would not benefit, is short and sweet.

i always hated being alone on thanksgiving or christmas.
what bothered me was that if it were known you accepted an invitation by relatives it was frowned upon.
but what got to me was this: is god more pleased that i am home looking at four walls alone rather than being over somebody's house??
In my family, we'd all go up to my parents house for the "holiday", mom always had turkey, as it was usually on sale. There were no gifts, of course, but we always got together. There were a few elder's in the cong. who always exchanged gifts with their children ON christmas day, they simply called it "family day"....but the first year we celebrated "christmas", without the tree, i might add, we got a visit from an elder, who wanted to make sure we weren't celebrating Christmas. WTF????? I guess it's a case of "do as we say. not as we do"

this past weekend was wonderful, i was in my yard and got all my new flowers planted and got a nice bit of sun on my arms and face .... starting to look like a california girl again.
Sorry, but I think Mary sent it from Canada....we seem to suddenly have sunnier, warmer weather here now.....

As I sit here, literally sobbing, for both Shunned father and for Gary, I am reminded of my very best friend, who died also from leukemia,24 years ago. She too, refused treatment, bone marrow transplant. I remain devastated, to this very day, over her loss. This is such a travesty, to all involved. The hurt and the pain and the suffering never goes away...my loss is not as great as shunned father or Gary's, for whom my heart goes out to......I am so sorry for your devastation, i hope you are able to heal as you endeavor to help others. I am saddened as the same scenario is played out over, and over again within the organization. When will it ever end??? My love to all who have lost a loved one to the borg.

when you read the news on the net or tv or in the news paper, do you get worried about war, oil prices, ozone depletion, species dying, and the list could go on and on, or are you just numb about it?

I don't think I would say that I am preoccupied with world events, but I do take an interest in what's happening. I don't think things can go on the way they are now, without SOMETHING giving. But I am unsure of WHO or WHAT if any one, can help us out of this mess we seem to be in. I'm sort of leaning towards God doing something, as I do believe He made the earth forever. But I do not subscribe to the idea that there will be an "armaggeddon" that only JW's will survive. I think God will rid the earth of "wicked people", whoever they might be. I dunno.....but the scientists have been saying that the world is in a sad state of affairs for as many years as the JW's...I guess I am satisfied to leave it with the "powers that be".

i am soooooooo damn sick of this crap weather here in southern ontario........i can't believe it: we've got snow and f*cking hail coming down!!!!!

Yup, and I've seen it hail, snow big fat flakes, AND, thunder and lightening all at the same time, but only twice in my life. Now,, that was freaky....only in Canada EH???
