i threw them all away in the trash can!.
i also tell everyone i have an opportunity about being in a cult, the jw's and have had many interesting conversations.
So proud to be ignorant? Why such hatred? Bad examples are in EVERY group!
Huh???? Not hatred, just disgust. I'm glad to be out, and I'd hate for others to unkowingly get involved with the JW organization. The unsuspecting public has no idea of the troubles and heartache the jw's can bring to their families. And why shouldn't we warn them? Then they can make their own , "informed" decision, once they know EVERYTHING about the cult religion.
i've decided to cut my ties with jws.. i don't post here much as i've stated before, but you all don't realize how much i appreciate this forum and the support it gives..
Good for you, Rethinking. This is an awesome network of great and wonderful people here, who know what you are going through. We have all been where you're at. It might seem a little scary at first, but it gets easier and easier to cut those ties that bind.

on an earlier thread about ice cream i remembered a snack that was sold at assemblies and that started me thinking about some of my memories of childhood at conventions/assemblies.
i guess it was the taste/smell association because even today when i go to various convention halls for home improvement expos, car shows and the like it takes me right back to the past.
i have many memories wrapped around the conventions and experienced different things because i have lots of elders in the family that were used, literally, for food service, the accounting office, security and dramas.
Oh the memories..... Getting up early, a long drive too and from....trying not to fall asleep, getting poked if we did nod off.
Trying to find suitable seats, that weren't already taken.....
Dad was not impressed about going, and was crazy grouchy about it.
Asking to use the bathroom every chance I could....then wandering the halls looking at the cute guys.
I met this one guy, at an assembly in Toronto, and he was manning one of the service elevators....he looked like Angus Young, from AC/DC, only MUCH better looking, and he had curly blonde hair that was past his collar. I fell totally in love with him. We'd sneak off on his break and find a quiet spot to "get to know each other better". We exchanged addresses and phone numbers, and he came camping a few weeks later. It was one awesome weekend. Then we never saw each other again.
I think I still have his picture in my old photo album.....

Allow yourself time to grieve, eat lotsa chocolate, watch chick flicks, and buy kleenex tissues by the carton, but then get busy living. Take an art class, or a meditation class. Anything that interests you, and gets you out of the house or apartment.
Go for walks, drives to the country....I truly do believe that things happen for a reason. When one door closes, another opens up.
And here I am, once more crying alone.
You are not alone. We are here for you.You will eventually be happy again. Something will make you smile, then that will give way to laughter.....and each day will become brighter than the last. I promise.

I work in a nursing home, and one lady was telling me how the witnesses come every Saturday, to discuss a scripture with her. I asked her if she liked them coming, she said," I liked it when they first came, because they were friendly and seemed caring."
I told her that they were wanting her to convert to becoming a witness, and she told me," I was raised a Mennonite and got out of that, I will not be involved with any other religion that has that kind of control over the people."
I told her that if she didn't like them coming anymore, to tell the front desk to keep them from her room on Saturday mornings. She doesn't have what it takes to tell them to stop, herself. To my knowledge, they don't visit her anymore.
I find it interesting to note, that I never see a witness in the joint when I'm there, and they certainly do not come round to where I am.
I also have thrown out the magazines in the doctor's office and dental offices too.

hey all, we are heading off to the snow for the weekend, i havnt been in three years and are eagerly looking forward to it all, esp my kids having heaps of fun.. anyway i have pretty much decided not to ski as i have just found out im pregnant, im a pretty confident skiier i guess its the other people you have to worry about.
when i tried to look at information whether or not it was a good idea it seemed 50\50.. just wondering what would you do or if you have skiied whilst pregnant?.

thought i'd bring this up again, i found it on the watchtower library and thought it was extremely annoying how they can say rubbish like this.. rape has become increasingly common today.
a major reason seems obvious.
sex and violence explode from tv and movie screens, from radio, newspapers, magazines and billboards.
Rape is an act of violence. One who is raped has had a crime perpetrated on her/him. Nothing else should matter.
My thoughts exactly!! The GB and the elders can go straight to hell with their stoopid ideas of how certain situations should be handled. Same thing goes with their ridiculous ideas concerning child abuse..... ............don't even get me started.....

it may be too direct, ruthlessly honest and straight-forward for many; we are not normally exposed to such hard-hitting guidance.
yet some of you it will touch in a significant way; enough to purchase this rare little gem that you may gleem from its pages much wisdom.. .
that what is critical is to make a conscious choice to be in the moment and silently and nonjudgmentally feel the aliveness and at the same time notice the mind chattering away as it interprets and weaves a story. I can not stress it enough how important it is to come to a clear recognition of the difference between thought and story, and actual Reality. This is a huge step in coming to awaken to our genuine unbroken wholeness.
