  Advice on making up with DF sister

  i've decided to ring my sister who i haven't talked to in 17 years because she's been disfellowshipped.

  i recently awoke from my drooling jw trance and realized what a shit i've been all these years.. i plan to apologize first.

  i'm really nervous about it.. any advice?.

  My cousin died yesterday.

  he was 43, just a few months older than me.

  his kidneys failed him when he was just 15 and he'd been on dialysis ever since.

  a couple of transplants had failed in the early years and his body deteriorated after that.

  when i started posting this morning it struck me that i was in the company of others around the world who were just getting up or going to bed.

  one can actually see when the brits have hit the forum - like now .

  my pc is always being comandeered by one of my sons! Mark even got me a spare laptop so I could get online, but all that means is one son upstairs, one down, talking to each other on MSN and sending rude noises through!

  lol, I can picture my 2 sons doing this...crazy boys!!! Gotta love 'em eh?? I rarely get the chance to come on when my husband and 2 sons are home, so I take advantage of early morning before work, and I have my coffee, while reading through posts.

  Then I usually have a chance at lunch, and after dinner.

  Christmas shopping unhealthy for men.

  most of us guys hate shopping and now there was a study done on the psysiologic effects of shopping on men.

  so ladies, when we don't want to go shopping with you don't take it personal.

  Now, I heard on the radio the other morning, that in my area, they've set up a tent, for men only. The men are dropped off, the women are given a number, similar to a coat check, they go off shopping, while the men can belly up to a bar, read a newspaper, smoke a cigar, play some video games, watch sports on a big screen tv, and visit with other men who's wives are shopping.

  The women go back, hand in their number to someone manning the tent door, they call out the number, your man comes out to the car, you go home. Everyone's happy.

  What's the best way to break in cowboy boots?

  I like Garybus's way.....

  The best way to break in boots I found was to first buy soft leather boots. Never cow hide. My favorites is water buffalo. Never buy off the rack, always have boots custom made. Nocona are my favorite. Put the boots on, soak feet in boots in a tub of hot water until they squish when you walk. Then wear them until they are dry. Don't do much walking. This is best done on a warm summer day. After soaking boots, get on a large motorcycle and ride 350 miles. Sioux Falls to Rapid City in August is ideal.
  
  Now wash boots with saddle soap, spray boots with leather relaxer, and ride back home.

  think I'll buy me a pair just to break them in...

  MARY WOULD MAKE A FANTASTIC ELDER.....I've often told her that....

  I don't think it would hurt the organization to appoint women, there are some very capable ladies who would do a fantastic job!!

  .... but I also know some women who should NEVER have any type of authority....it goes straight to their head. There are equally as many men who should not be appointed either, but there they are!

  i've been around for awhile, but never registered for fear of giving my personal information (yes, that's how much the borg scares me.

  i was raised in the org, and left when i was 18. i realized that every religion firmly believed that they were correct, and that forced me to re-evaluate the religion on its merits, as opposed to my insistent belief.

  needless to say, i saw the man behind the curtain.

  growing up amongst jws, i saw the core beliefs as a threat.

  be a jw, or die horribly.

  but no one i knew ever admitted this, it was all about 'loving jehovah'.

  As a kid raised in it was all about the fear. Fear of parents wrath, elders wrath, Headquarters wrath, extended family wrath and in the end God and Jesus. (In that order)

  I learned to be afraid, very afraid.

  Bingo!! and I still hear the fear in my parents' voices, when they beg me to come back, because," whatever will I do when my children die at armageddon"??!!

  Fear.....it controls the masses.

  Even if it ends in death.... because there is that hope for the righteous ones, so i think dying while following Jehovahs laws is better than dying from aids or another sickness from a transfusion (which would mean i wasnt following Gods laws)... (does that make sense?)

  ummm...yeah...riiiight...**wonders what 1Mother will do when she sees her newborn laying in desperate need of a transfusion...will you waver then?? or will you let your child die, because, "it's better than dying from aids or another sickness from a transfusion"...

  Comments like this are easily made when one has healthy children...but faced with the dreadful decision, of choosing either life, or death for your child...it then becomes quite complicated, and different. Emotions run high, and so does fear. I would hope to God, you'd make the "right" decision, and allow your child his/her "right" to live.

  I'm sorry to hear this Eryn....I'm thinking of you and wish you peace, and love. Unfortunately, as good and wonderful a "family" as we have here at JWD, there does exist those who for whatever reason, thrive on being hurtful and hateful. They are truly evil, and have no place amongst humankind.

  Eventually, this idiot will boast about his nonsense, probably on other ex-jw sites, and then everyone will know who it is, that is acting in such a despicable way. I also believe in Karma....
