WELCOME!!
Rebuilding a "family" of friends takes time and work. Especially when you don't live in an area for very long or go to school. Your feelings are very common. I identified with a few of them. It's hard to not be cynical after being a Dub. EVERYONE you know as a Dub is just waiting to expose you and treat you like trash. So you assume everyone is that way and won't trust anyone.
It's easier to dismiss everyone and not believe one whit of what they say. But is that a good way to live? I think not. Lots of ex-Dubs still fight this. Are you going to make any true friends this way? No. Being a friend is being there when the chips are down. When you get hurt by a friend you are still there. You don't "mark" them and never speak to them again. You forgive, you forget, and you build the friendship on studier ground.

no one to talk to
by jeeves ini guess this is my introductory post.. like many of you, i was raised as a witness.. like many of you, i'm no longer associated with them.. it still hangs over me like a plague.
it's really annoying.
i haven't been to a meeting in 4 years, i'm "out of the closet" - my parents know i'm no longer interested, my oldest brother won't talk to me... etc.

A question for Evil Force
by Junction-Guy ini have read in several of your posts that you are a doctor, what is your line of practice?
if you would share that with us here that would be cool.
also how often has the blood transfusion issue come up in your practice.

Good call Scots!
Felt hats were once very popular in North America and Europe; an example is the top hat. The best sorts were made from beaver fur, but cheaper ones used furs such as rabbit instead. A complicated set of processes was needed to turn the fur into a finished hat. With the cheaper sorts of fur, an early step was to brush a solution of a mercury compound—usually mercurous nitrate—on to the fur to roughen the fibres and make them mat more easily, a process called carroting because it made the fur turn orange. Beaver fur had natural serrated edges that made this unnecessary, one reason why it was preferred, but the cost and scarcity of beaver meant that other furs had to be used.
Whatever the source of the fur, the fibres were then shaved off the skin and turned into felt; this was later immersed in a boiling acid solution to thicken and harden it. Finishing processes included steaming the hat to shape and ironing it. In all these steps, hatters working in poorly ventilated workshops would breathe in the mercury compounds and accumulate the metal in their bodies.
We now know that mercury is a cumulative poison that causes kidney and brain damage. Physical symptoms include trembling (known at the time as hatter’s shakes), loosening of teeth, loss of co-ordination, and slurred speech; mental ones include irritability, loss of memory, depression, anxiety, and other personality changes. This was called mad hatter syndrome. -

Where Is The Ultimate Truth Found?
by JamesThomas inthere is much discussion here about the bible.
some might see that after hundreds of years of argument and controversy no two people interpret the damn thing exactly the same, and so they have acquired the wisdom to abandon it.
there is a story which goes like this: .

You have someone to throw under the bus as an excuse. "Come to dinner next week?" Oh, I'd love to but my spouse has a thing that night.
Somone else to blame for making the house so dirty.
Sex every night & twice on Sundays......LOL
A legal obligation for them to listen to more of your crap. And to correct you mid-story about how you are screwing up retelling the story. -

Don't have to work Baptism pool because of getting turned on by the women?
by soundbox_guy inthey want me to work the baptism pool, but i don't want to.
you imagine i could just say that i'd be tempted by all the half dressed young women walking around dripping wet with their feet showing and it wouldn't be good for me as a brother since i have an active imagination and a foot fetish?
nahhh....i wouldn't tell them that, but they do want me to work it though.

Do you have a mental image of other posters on this site?
by dh ina lot of people here have posted their photo's, but i think the majority haven't... i sometimes wonder when reading posts on here, what person making those posts must look like, not that i want to see their photo, i just find it interesting... i recently got to see a photo of someone i have talked to on here since i first joined, and i had to say the person looked an awful lot like i had imagined, so i wondered if anyone else wonders about things like this?
is there a particular poster you have a mental image of?
care to share it and see if the person really looks like what you think they look like?
