America is a nation of laws.
What you guys are arguing about is "morals". Is it proper to sleep with someone 8? 12? 15? 18? There are not laws saying you cannot sleep with an 8 year old. (Note sleep does not mean sex...there are laws against sexual contact). You can not make common sense into 1 billion laws. -

A question for Evil Force
by Junction-Guy ini have read in several of your posts that you are a doctor, what is your line of practice?
if you would share that with us here that would be cool.
also how often has the blood transfusion issue come up in your practice.

Oz....the topic was that you have a personal axe to grind with me and are carrying it out on a public forum. The various mods and assistant mods stealth behavior the past 2 days speaks volumes about your intents. You asked me a question I answered it. If you don't like the answer, simply say so. Or PM me if you are really interested in knowing or just interested in engaging in petty tit for tat.
Sith.... you questioned my integrity. Please let me know where I breached that in any of my posts. I am unaware of any but will address any you feel I've fallen short on. Otherwise it is simply a - did not...did too....did not...did too childish debate. Lord knows Sith you and I have gone round and round. But I cannont respond to innuendo....it would be great if we all could post our websites, phone numbers, addresses and all for everyone to then see we are true or not. But I have all of my family still in this cult. I have posted my photo which is probably already too much. But I don't want to lose contact with them. I can promise you I would be cut off and shunned. My nieces and nephews have already been held hostage to my visits before. I have not asked you nor anyone else on this board for ANY personal information. Most of us are all limited in our ability to post personal information beyond our posts. These posts IMHO must stand on their own regardless who is writing them. If you don't think the post holds water, or is accurate, or lawful, yell from the mountatin tops that the poster's info is wrong and full of inaccuracies. Sith, how do I know you are not a rat fink? Why don't you post your own picture? Why are you using a fake avatar? Why don't you say what city you live in? None of these questions are any of my business or anyone else now is it?
RodP - I have not stepped foot in a KH for about 15 years. I don't feel the need to say one way or the other if/when I may see a JW patient. Alot of Dubs are balanced in their views of a private opinion is simply that. -

Would the Governing Body use a "Worldly Consulting Agency"? CIA?
by frankiespeakin in.
pros and cons please.
plenty of room for speculation!!!!

EvilForce
The CIA owns quite a few companies. Many are in the security and intel technology areas...but some are in mundane areas of work. It's easier to keep their finances a secret. The CIA's budget is secret from most congresspeople as well. Lot's of black ops, with black budget funding.

Cook at home or eat out?
by greendawn indo you know how to cook, even just a few simple recipes, or do you hate the idea of home cooking and prefer to always rely on restaurants and take aways, or just prepare easy snacks like sandwiches and melted cheese on toast?

Greendawn....Asian's are 90% lactose intolerant. And Lactaids cause side effects in various people. I can use goat's milk as a replacement or coconut milk, soy milk or rice milk for that matter. My goat's milk cheesecake is darn good.
Euph...yup lot's of black beans, tofu, seitan, chick peas, and lots of eggs, ..etc for protein. There are also quite a few fake meat products that are quite good. The fake sausage is good. The fake chicken patties you can't tell from real chicken. I do eat sushi once every week or so and eat fish then....hubby doesn't....I just can't give up sushi :) -

Let's see my hubby is vegetarian (as am I), is Asian so can't have dairy products, is allergic to mangos, avacados, and papaya, and hates portabello mushrooms. So it's easier for me to make dinner....LOL
We do eat at a Tibetian, Vietnamese, Indian, Afghani, Mexican, or Japanese resturant when we do eat out. -

Visiting graves . . . did you do it?
by garybuss intoday we had a nice road trip and visited two cemeteries where grandparents and aunts and uncles are buried.
we usually make the yearly trek on memorial weekend but this year we helped my son move and were out of town.
it's an upbeat day.

I never did as a Dub. I do now...but not to visit any dead people but to see the various gravestones. I have been to the main graveyards in Milan, Zagreb, Budapest, and many other places. I find them rather facinating. Yes, I have a screw loose....I know.

Why don't they just call a spade a spade for crying out loud.
It should be titled "ORGANIZATIONAL OBEDIENCE" not Godly Obedience. UGH!!!
Not only the heavy weight did I feel....but I felt like I had a tie on again and it was starting to strangle me. Puleeze. -

What was your breaking point?
by soundbox_guy inokay, i'm new as you all probably know, so my question may have been discussed several times in the past.
i'm just curious as to when some of you came to the conclusion that enough was enough and that you didn't want to attend the meetings anymore or not be a jw.
was it in field service, at home, at the hall?

For me it was a death by a thousand paper cuts. A few notable examples...
Being "marked" from the stage for going to university
A gay friend of mine who's parents didn't bother to go to his funeral .... that would have acknowledged his lifestyle is what they said.... I asked them what about when someone dies all their sins are paid for. A trip to the back room for that comment.
Being gay myself and listening and suffering silently when those homophobes would make all kinds of horrible comments.
I could never do enough. I'd average 12 hours a month in FS...they'd want more. I'd aux. pioneer one month...(and about kill myself due to working, school, and KH stuff) then they'd ask why I couldn't do it every month.
Never ending personal comments about my hair length...tie color...wearing a sportscoat instead of suit. I was a poor college student for crying out loud.
Being mocked for my degree I was pursuing as being haughty and wanting to shortchange Jah....
The list goes on....and on....and on..... -
