Princess... I found open water swimming to be the only way I could practice / train. Swimming laps is so boring. I did my last ( and only ) 5 years ago very close to a birthday to "prove" to myself I could do it. After finishing the tri I patted myself on the back for my feat, and quickly forgot about doing tri's ever again. LOL
Be sure to have a nice light wet suit for the swim....you'll be very happy you invested in a high quality one for the training.

Triathletes? Anyone?
by Princess ini was surprised at the number of people who popped in with running advice for vitty.
i didn't realize we had so many runners on board here.
i'm getting ready for my first triathlon next month and find myself wondering if we have any triathletes around here..... i have wanted to complete a tri ever since i ran the 1/2 marathon portion on a tri relay 1/2 ironman in 2003. i've shied away from them because the swim totally freaks me out.

disfellowshipped for gluttony?
by onintwo inhello jwd board community.
just wondering.. has anyone ever heard of a person being disfellowshipped for the terrible sin of gluttony?
isn't it ranked right up there with drunkeness, adultery, murder, etc.?.

Typical elder jackarse. Can't for one moment relax, let his hair down, and simply ENJOY life for 20 minutes without some judgemental crap spewing forth.

Well if you didn't know the motto of news organizations is:
If it bleeds it leads.
Meaning if it's bloody tragedy it leads the news stories or headlines. -

Allow myself to introduce....myself
by pele38 ini must say, i never thought that i would see the day when i would find a site about disillusioned (mostly) jehovah's witnesses, but low and behold...one truly exists.
first let me start off by saying thank you to the creators of this site, and i'll have you know that i've been lurking for several days now and i am just finding the time to finally log on.
i've been a member of the borg for over 20 years now, been baptised for about 14 of those years and now i find myself in the most unusual of places.

Welcome Pele....there's lots of stuff to learn on this board. I only joined 4 months ago and the information I've learned has been eye opening for sure.

Somethings just not true!
by defd inive been here for sometime now.
long enough to know that some peoples hatred toward th wtbts and some of its members are based on wrong information.
for instance: ive read on hear many times that the wt promotes the idea that everyone whos not a witness are not friend material or will be destroyed at armageddon.

I think that's a good guess.
But wouldn't you think making timely biblical information widely available for virtually no extra cost reach more people? Maybe even in lands where it was hard to get info into? So instead of imposing the PDF to "burn" printing plates....they would take that same PDF and put it up on the web. Thank God for Adobe PDF format :)
Granted the WTBS wants people to still go out in service...but Ja said he would make the stones cry out if need be. Would the world wide web be an uber efficient means of furthering God's message?
If a householder says "no thanks" which we know is most of them, in passing you might say, "Well, if you change your mind, they are available on the official website"? Donation arrangements could be used on the web too.
