No one could take sisters leading the congregation seriously. You'd have to wear a napkin or scarf over your head all the time...that just distracts too many people....

Insider info given to me by a very loyal, long time brother
by seeitallclearlynow inas mentioned in the topic title, a very active, very positive, "faithful" brother talked to me out of the blue at work last week.
it was a highly unusual opportunity - i happened to be in a secluded area, captive to my task, and i saw him passing so said hello.. he's a wonderful person with a well-known, fantastic sense of humor, known all over the circuit and district.
former pioneer, elder, fill-in c.o.

Sorry if I disagree with your viewpoint on this link...but I found the verbiage to be cheap platitudes and feel good imagery.
I disagree with lots of the assumptions. Life is very good and one must strive to keep onself balanced and to live as simply as possible :) -

Why so many?
by Honesty inthere are so many 'used to be jw's' now i am just wondering what is causing the revolution in the organisation.
is it due to the failed prophecies, flip flopped doctrines, changing new light or is the borg squeezing the rank and file hard enough for them to realise the truth ain't the truth?
any thoughts on this?

I think the internet has helped everyone. If you are an Ex Jo Ho in PoDunk, Iowa (population 2,500) I would imagine you would feel all alone. With the interenet now you are in a community of 1,000's and 10,000's not all alone.
Think how awfully alone people who fell away after 1975 felt? Or even earlier? 1960? 1950? They would have been all alone in their town or county.
But I also think the JW's latest insistence the past 20 years on DF'ing people who have simply quit coming has come back to haunt them. By chasing someone down who hasn't been to the meetings in 5, 10 or 15 years and trying to haul them in before a committee is just ridiculous. Makes them go from being idle non-believers to active opposers!
That's my 2 cents anyway.... -

My grandfather was a city overseer in the 40's, 50's, and I think until early 60, or 61. He left his wife (my grandmother) and ran off with someone else. Since so much of the "organization" was in one falliable man 100's of witnesses were "stumbled" by this. My mother fell away for a time as well, and other people who were around at that time have given me ranges of 50 people to 250 people....
By rotating PO's they would have to tell more "elders" about private matters. By having only one person knowing the private info of the religion, by changing doctrine one only needs to worry about a few thousand PO's. However, if you had rotated them then you would have expotentially more "brothers" to keep in line.
However, they are now back to that same ole' problem of having 1 brother be the face of the organization.
I just asked my mother earlier this morning "How much time did Jesus preach about God's heavenly or earthly organization?" Please get together each and all versus of where he talked about "Formation, execution, and operations" of God's Organization. -

New Light on Higher Education
by seeitallclearlynow inmy son made a point to tell me that they had what was to him a very interesting, different talk on the service meeting this week.
the presiding overseer gave a talk on the society's changed view of getting a college education.. he used the scripture which admonishes the reader to "acquire a heart of wisdom" and applied it to getting a 4 year college education for the sake of being able to support oneself at double the rate of pay with one's degree upon graduation.
this of course is only for the purpose of being able to then pioneer, only having to work a few days a week, thereby having the time for the field ministry.. such an annoying change - finally!

I was admonished from the stage for going off to college in 1986. The elder gave a Sunday talk and incorporated a five minute smear on higher education. This Brother [name removed] himself had a college education!!! Lying piece of S***.

The scriptures say to examine all things in the light of God.
One of my fundamental problems with the Dub's was the insistence we could never critically think or read an "unapproved" text.
I just gave my copy of CofC to my brother. He hasn't been to a Jdub meeting in over 6 1/2 years, yet my brother in-law just told him this week he could not see my nieces until he resolves his sins with the elders. What sin? He had been living with his g/f for about a year 2 years ago. He hasn't been living with her or anyone else since, but somehow this became a problem just this week..... why? The new Organization book? I don't know. So my brother who simply quit going to meetings 6 1/2 years ago is supposed to go to the elders to have this "handled". Like the elders wouldn't just DF him and have the same end result. I HATE THE F***ING WTS!!!
But this is a horrible, wicked, cruel borg that needs to have it's tax exempt status pulled. That is my goal. I know I will probably not succeed and that is ok. It will not comsume me, but I have comitted to spending 10 hours a week working on my book, and petitioning various government groups to help me to our end. -

A comment I heard tonight
by Generic Man intonight i heard one of the most cruel and twisted comments i've ever heard at the platform.
the topic was the apocalypse and whether or not children will be slaughtered.
through one side of his mouth, the po stated that the bible is not clear on the matter, while out the other side he pointed to all those old testament accounts where children were killed.

Hmmm I see....
I think the JW's really need someone like you in their midst. Please go back there and preach your understanding of the bible to all the other JW's I'm sure they would think your ideas are "new light" or "enlightened" thinking.....assuming this was the 15th century! -

I am a gay male. I am taking care of my husband first and foremost, but I am also leaving a fair amount of money to my parents and siblings. What they do with it is there biz. I love them and will take care of them in case of an unfortunate demise. I think the secret to it is to leave enough for them to live on but not so much as to have so much extra they need to figure out where to spend it or give it to the JW's.
