What good bible wisdoms do you know?
by Bas ini'm not much of a bible expert myself so i was wondering what good bible/jesus wisdoms do you know?
things that can help you in daily life by keeping them in the back of your mind.
also i'm not looking for cliche's that everyone knows regardless if they ever opened the bible, more like philosophical wisdoms that even atheists should know.

My favorite verse to look up was in the old testatment that if when two men were fighting, if a woman should grab one of the men by the privates to help her man out her hand should be cut off.
I thought it was cool the bible said "privates" when I was 13. -

How long is a cotton picking minute?
by Elsewhere in.
sometimes i hear someone say: "hold on just one cotton pick'in minute....".
i'm wondering, is a "cotten picking minute" a "bored" minute that feels like a long time or is it a "busy" minute that seems to fly by?

I don't like to think of the south as being slower, but rather a more humane pace ;)

Enquiring minds and all that...
by ConcernedMom inmaybe a stupid question but what happens to the leftover emblems after the memorial?
are they given any significance outside of the memorial (like the bread and wine that has been blessed in a catholic mass) and saved for next year?
or taken home and consumed by someone?

They were saved until stale and then thrown out at our house. I had tasted both the bread and wine a few days after the memorial...and the bread tasted like licking the bottom of a bird cage and washing it down with the wine tasted like vinegar & ass !

It's the 3 D's of WTS doctrine/dogma/dogshit.
Deny, Deflect, and Disfellowship
Deny there is a change - Deny there is a problem - Deny the WTS said something in the past
Deflect - Wait on Jehoba Deflect - New Light Deflect - Clearer understanding
Disfellowship - if the person doesn't accept the above then they need to be Disfellowshiped. -

Yes, and I'm sure some kiss ass invariably said to another one who missed the meeting "It was one of the best talks I ever heard, and had such interesting, unique perspective."

Bible Study Burns Down the House...
by Sparkplug insomeone just mentioned 1978 and it reminded me that a bible study of my mothers burnt our house down while we were gone to the international convention in california.
she robbed us blind and then toasted our house.
do you think jehovah had a plan there and that we were being blessed for sitting something like 8 freaking days out in the sun in california?

Very funny post Sparkplug... You can be my fag hag any day of the week :)
My life view as crashing headlong into things I think comes from growing up a "borg" drone. Always having restraint, always give it thought, always weigh the costs. Dammit, no just GO!!! Enjoy life and let go. That has been my biggest challenge, not to continue to over-think everything. -

I would say to get a lawyer ABSOLUTELY!!!
The idea isn't whether you would win in a court of law but to up the stakes to the Congo. They won't want to air their laundry in public, and since your end goal isn't really to go back but to be left alone, and be a non-beliver so your relatives can talk to you, instead of being DF'd. Also, the local Congo would have to call in a lawyer from the community or more likely from the WTS in New York. Living in a town of 3,500 and them bringing in heavies from NYC won't play well in the local paper...if you need to use that avenue.
So your goal should be to make it as painful, and public as possible to get them to back down so they just go back to leaving you alone! Even if you filed a lawsuit today it would be 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 years before you ever got to court. But a stalling technique might also be in your best interest.
Legal stategy isn't about winning, but getting an acceptable solution. -

I read your profile Sparkplug and I like it.
Although I live my life like a lubed up slip and slide. I prefer to go crashing headlong into things at full speed. Of course having 1/2 naked boys** running around the slip and slide ain't that bad either :)
** Boys of course being other men over the age of 25 .... just a side not I think appropriate since JW's and the term "boys" could be misconstrued to something icky!
